Boxster modifications for import into Canada
I have browsed through a few of the postings and it seems that the required modifications for importing a US spec Boxster into Canada are the DRLs, speedometer switch, and the French airbag sticker. Am I missing anything?
Thank you in advance ... |

I just imported an Audi. The DRLs are a must. If the speedo also has metric on it, it should be fine, and my understanding is the airbag warning only needs to be in French if it requires routine servicing. I also believe a child tether is not needed on a convertable.
The RIV inspection took all of 5 minutes at a Canadian Tire. They never even brought it into the shop, just did it in the parking lot. Make sure they know where the sticker for the tire pressures are or if not pressent, you have a manual showing tire pressures. Tim

Same here, Canadian Tire guy (in the parking lot, 5 minutes in total) just checked the tire pressures on the door post and then stood in front of the car while I started it to make sure the headlights came on. I suppose I coulda just flicked the headlight switch on before starting it and he wouldn't have known the difference.
Boxster without PCM will require dealer intervention (or mod-kit discussed on the importation sticky), that should be about it. I don't think there are worries about the airbag stickers. |

Google "Boxster DRL hack" and you'll find one for modifying a couple fuses- I did it, works great, costs pennies, and it's fully removeable later. Changing the speedo is built in to the display, just read the owners manual- no cost or dealer visit required. As for French stickers, nobody cared on my car. Good luck!

Some Canadian Tire locations sell the French airbag stickers, I'm told. Otherwise, find one on the internet or make your own in Photoshop, print and tape onto the passenger sun visor. Voila! It'll pass inspection. Same trick as the gear shift sticky on the dashboard for passing safety.
