No snow pics!

We don't need pictures of the stinkin' snow!!!
I can look out my front window to see that!

It isn't too scenic, but there is some green in the picture.

Frankly, I've lost track of where Porsche made out with their acquisition plans for VW. But assuming its gone ahead, wouldn't that make all Porsche's glorified VW's? Or is it the reverse? And would this actually affect their performance in the snow? And does this finally legitimize the 914?

Oh darn, now my head hurts. More sunny pictures please!

A properly set up 2.0L 914 will give a 911 a hard time; mid-engine rules.

You'll come out green because of the algea.
Watch for drunks on water crafts and speed-boats.
Avoid "effluents" coming from house-boats.

SUV's?
They're pretty ugly gas-guzzling monstrosities but great to strap in dekids and drive to the mall.

Question

[QUOTE=911Rob;4396773]Gunty,
i see your attitude is gonna be the same for '09?

Attitude? It's always been: Drive the 911 and participate in the major runs, especially the N.E.Oregon event.

The Shuswap is actually one of the most beautiful places on Gods green earth dude. [I][COLOR="DarkGreen"][B]

Which God, dude?

The Earth may have been green a hundred plus years ago but Homo Sapiens have been multiplying like rats and the green is fast disappearing.

Talk to a Marine Biologist some time: Shuswap Lake is as dead as the Okanagon Lake. The water is too warm and too much pollution.

Like anything else, if an area is too nice, people will flock to it and that changes things drastically; great for boating and water-ski but...................?
I remember a lot of these Lakes from 30-40 years ago before the overcrowding.

My special swim hole and what a beauty it is:
It is pristine because one needs to hike into it, not just drive up and park.

Gunty,
Ha! Talk to a marine biologist did ya?; B (cough) S; some things never change 'eh.

The actual facts if you care to know, is that the Shuswap Lake is one of the cleanest, most natural, "prestine" lakes in all of NORTH AMERICA. Approximately 1/3 of the entire lake is drained out and replenished each and every year!

Click Here: Annual Elevations for Shuswap Lake

On average the lake rises and falls a total of 10 feet from Spring to Fall. This means if you go to the lake in the Spring and stand at the waters edge; then place a six foot tall man on your shoulders, by mid-July you both will be fully covered in water.

Here is the International Environment Report for the Shuswap Lakes; better tell your marine biologist buddies to go back to school!!!

LINK: SHUSWAP LAKE REPORT

The Shuswap Lakes contain over 1,000 miles of shoreline with a surface area greater than 6,000 square miles; now imagine a lake that size rising and falling over 10 feet in elevation...... that's alot of fresh water every year; year after year. Our lake is Prestine beyond approach and that's the way we're gonna keep it.

Maybe you better just stay put in the Kootnays afterall?

30 years ago; HA!!! My Great Grandfather pioneered this area in the late 1800's and my Grandparents grew up here. I spent all my summers here as a kid and now I live here, so yeah; it's kinda personal to me You can drink our lake water right out of the lake! Most lake homes do, that's where you drive up to your water front home, park, walk inside and turn on the tap!

Wink

"Our lake is Prestine beyond approach and that's the way we're gonna keep it."

Today, no lake is pristine beyond reproach because of acid rain etc.

I am sure it was pristine at one time but then came people and subdivisions and construction and more development; all great for Real Estate Sales.

Like Woody says: "Tradition is the illusion of permanence."

After living in different countries and living in different parts of Canada, I purposely came to the Kootenays and bought a little farm with my own water coming from a wild and unmolested creek.
I love it here, very little development other than a constant fight to prevent clear-cutting the remaining forests in the Slocan Valley and trashing the remaining intact watersheds.

Back to Marine Biology: About 3-4 years ago I went swimming in the Shuswap and when I came out, I found a black leech between my toes!

Wow, I wasn't happy about that. Shortly after I talked to Fisheries and Oceans about this and they said that it's more and more common because of all Lakes having warmer average temps, especially the interior lakes; lots of unwanted sea grass, slimy critters and microbes.

See that yucky stuff in the lower left corner of the top picture? That's what I mean.

Next time you walk into the Shuswap, protect your feet from leaches with this:

Reality check: Around 1970 global population was 5 Billion, 40 years later we have 7 Billion and counting; No, no, no, it has no effect on the environment.

Climate change, global warming is all too real but let's just ignore it, avoid responsibility, blame someone else and keep up mindless consumerism.

Enough of that, what was the latest hockey score?

Love that creek:
