Porsche Boxster - Recall Clearance

2000 U.S. Boxster now in Canada. Need inspection and certification. Porsche states verbally that there are no outstanding recalls but want big bucks just to put it in writing. Need other option to get recall clearance document, or a facilitator. Time is a factor.

Can anyone help an older senior with a younger older Boxster??? Much appreciated!

Porsche Boxster

Just checked with Registation for International Vehicles (RIV) |Centre again. They now tell me that I don't require the Recall Clearance document any longer. Great news. Would suggest that others importing should take note of this and give them a call should you have any questions. Cheers.

Others who have bought stateside have obtained letters from dealers in the US stating all recalls have been done...and they were FREE.

It doesn't have to be supplied by Porsche Canada.

As Alex said. If you get hassled getting the car registered (i.e. RIV changes their mind and requires the letter, not unheard of) start calling any dealership in the US. Usually you can get something faxed within an hour or so, at no charge. I always offer to pay for a 1/2 hour of labour, and they always say don't worry about it.

If RIV does change their mind, demand an extension on the deadline to get registered, as you were told one thing, then another.

Was just reading about this in a thread about importing to Canada on this site , page 10 I think it was, mind you this info on that post was a couple of years ago, RIV is a private company and all manafacturers have to provide this info to the Fed. Gov. by law so it seems that this is just another money grab and a way to deter people from saving money and to buy cars in Canada, unfortunatly some of the cars we look for aren't readily available here at home and because of this the cost is even that much higher , the old supply and demand crap
