If you're only bringing wine, it's a good thing I've got some margarita stuff...

The Starbucks at the meeting point opens at 6, so everyone will have the opportunity to caffeine-up before we leave. See everyone shortly!

Nelson is a cool place.
All the bars, restaurants and bike shops without any visible industry to support it all.
Have a great and safe run gentlemen.

Yes but they had a locally brewed hemp beer at the restaurant... I wonder if the ingredients are sourced locally...

Home now...1700Km exactly in 3 days, most of it on the second day was "Spirited". This was my first CanAm and I have to say I had no idea what to expect. The best way to describe it was great people, beautiful scenery and some narly twisty BC mountain roads. I guess it's true; it's not about the destination, it's about the journey.

I have to say Charlie and company gave me/us quite a journey. Thank you so much Charlie for making fun and exciting for me. As well Al for the fantastic BC roads he knows so well ( and can drive like a demon), and his family for hosting a LARGE BBQ for all of us. Kind of brings my faith back in humanity that people still open up they hearts and homes to a bunch of nutty P-Car folks, feed them and fill them with beer. That was awesome.

One of my favourite parts was the drive home on Sunday AM at least until Creston; we had three cars, the road all to our selves and I got to follow two beautiful Porsches for quite a while on some incredible roads, the look of them carving the corners in front of me reinforced the fact I think they are one of the best looking cars ever.

Anyway thanks again, and I have a ton of pictures to sort through. I am posting a few of the ones I looked through....

Heading out from Alberta

Frosty morning

Heading out of Nelson

Bridge Photo Op

Waiting for the ferry

Ah yeah, so much for the spoiler

Through the backroads

Typical Mirror shot (poorly done)

BBQ

Parking next to Gunter house (Just kidding)

A few kool cars

Beautiful country

The morning drive home to Alberta

First time trying to take pictures and drive, it's not easy so I'm happy I even got a few of these. Next time I'll figure out a better solution.

Thanks again everyone for making it a great experience for me; see you next year in the US

Oh yeah, I suck at names and I'm sure I called everyone someone else's name more than once, so I apologize; next time can we have name tags and Pelican handles

That was a ton of fun. Thank you to everyone for your hospitality, thank you to Charlie for arranging this, thank you to Al and family for the BBQ.

I loved the fact that the cars were almost all air cooled - no offense water pumpers.

My son, Clayton had a wonderful time and is telling everyone about the 'Porsche Drive'. I will post up some photos tomorrow.

Yes, it was a great weekend with some fabulous folks. Plus, a fantastic mix of cars.....early 911 narrow body longhoods to 997 C4S. The best part, I have never seen so many turbos at a single event. And, driven like they should be.

Got home at 7:15 PM after another amazing day of carving up twisties. My shoulders are tired from the 1700 kms of arm wrestling.

It was a funny weekend from an organizing view of the world. Day 1 was like herding cats trying to get everyone into Nelson, day 2 had the participants orderly and focused, day 3 plans were....well, plans that got revised several times as we travelled west.

I appreciate the praise, but it is really all you folks that make the event what it is. I enjoy organizing some of the drives we do. But, I can't take the credit. We (Al, Paul and I - along with a few other firends) dreamed this up over a few beers and cigars at a shop party back in early winter. A few more emails to work out the details and the 2014 CanAm was born.

The part that amazed us all, the event basically filled up within 5 days of the original post. We opened the number of participant twice to a total max of 30 cars. I believe we ended up with 26 actual cars participating with a number of passengers to keep the drivers pointed in the right direction.

I will sort through my pics and post a few later.

Thanks again for making the event a success. Cheers all.

What an awesome few days. The promise of enjoying some cool cars on some of the best roads around is something we obviously all crave. But what makes this event is the people. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as meeting many new ones.

Charlie, thanks for all the organization and planning that went into this. Al, the generosity of your family and their friendliness always amazes me. And thanks to everyone who participated for making such an enjoyable weekend.

One more thing. I'm still a little stunned that the almost 32 year old car I purchased 6 weeks ago, a 160000 mile plus example that had sat in someone's garage for close to 5 years, could be driven in such fashion over so many miles with ZERO issues (other than about a billion dead bugs). Even reasonable on fuel (26mpg imperial). And I actually added a litre of oil for the first time since it's oil change 3500km ago.

Thanks again for a very memorable weekend.

I also want to thank the organizers and everyone for attending. For me, this is the highlight of the year. The scenery was spectacular and the comraderie extraordinary.
Friendships were renewed and new ones started, I think I live a very blessed life. Also to have a wife that, for the most part, enjoys my spirited driving skills.

A few pics......

Day 1 heading towards Vernon to collect the rest of the group from the Interior and Alberta.

Breakfast of champions.

This is the parking light. Inside is the bulb. I changed it to LED. Oh, I see.

The rental. Could use some brake work at the end of the weekend.

Vernon lunch and collecting the rest of the group. This is where the herding cats came into play.

Into the Kootenay area....just love the scenery here. Oh, and the roads.

Rosie and Princess Peach spent the night together.

More............

1976 turbo - 100% bone stock and low mile. OMG!!!!

The above car is owned by Scott. His son Clayton was the youngest CanAm participant ever......just under 4 years old. He had a blast in "Daddy's car".

Climbing up Kootenay Pass. The last time I had the Porsche here was in the clouds with 2" of slushy snow. This time the sun, scenery, and roads made it amazing.

A sample of one of the roads. It was like dancing with the curves. I was in heaven.

As the license plate says.....Beautiful British Columbia. With the above roads in this backdrop......WOW!!!!

Spending time together BS'ing and laughing while we wait for the ferry. So relaxing.

This is perhaps my favorite road. I was running sweep at the rear of the group. Means I can pull over and grab a few pictures, then I get to catch up.

more again.....

What a serious bunch. Only young Sam seemed to be excited of another day through the twisties in the turbo.

The best wifes ever - Ev and my Debbie.

Both Ev and Debbie like to knit while we drive - proof with Ev knitting. I know when Debbie stops knitting it is time to turn it down a little.

On top of the world................

Rosie hit another milestone on Sunday. I would drive her across the country tomorrow. Just love this car. Well, I love my Debbie too. But, you know what I mean. LOL!!!!!
