Just a few here most of them hang out at www.porscheforum.nl. The Euro board is used only by me and Smitty (K9handler)

For once I baught an aircooled VW(/Porsche) that doesn't need any resto work, feels great! Just one spot with a little rust underneath the paint, at the anthenna base. And it need some maintance in the front wheel area, don't know what it is yet. The steeringwheel turns fast/agressive right-left when I drive thro a hole in the road.
What is the status of your resto projekt Elflamo? 2 Years is a long time.

75 914, that sounds like bump steer or?

Regarding the resto, I don't have a lot of time to spend on it. I usually work some hrs during the weekend and some high focus stints during holidays.

Status now is that all findable rust has been dealt with in a proper way: new panels here and there, and quite some handmade replacement sections had to be fabricated. I'm taking no shortcuts with that though, so no overlapping sections, but all made to exact fit....that's taking some time!

The front suspension has been rebuild and fitted to the car and basically that's the only bit that is still on the car. I'm wrapping up all the work on the underside and all inner box sections have been rust treated. After I've rebuild the rear suspension I'll take off all the paint for the car to be repainted somewhere early 2007.

All in all, I think I'm on 50% or so, so another 2 yrs wouldn't surprise me. In the meantime, the 2.4S seems just increasing in value faster than I can order bits on eBay, so I'm quite comfortable with that....

Cheers dutchies!

Elflamo

Indeed Elflamo, bump steer! I'm trying to find my way in the world of Porsche, or better 914.
As far as I can tell, you're done with the wurst jobs, welding. I think now the work is becoming nicer and nicer. In your car for sure no bump steer!
Maybe financially taking your time is not so bad, but driving it is perhaps a more interesting goal?
I can't drive my 914 yet. The tyres are to bad. I baught the car without wheels, so now it's on some old beetle wheels which I stored outside for like 8 years. Just today I found some nice wheels. I have to change some little things on the car but I can't wait to drive it. But first some things to check, I wouldn't get borred this weekend.
Like Dutchie said, would be nice if you could post some pics of your resto. I'm very curious.

So, fellow dutchies, that's a bunch of what keeps me busy these days. I'm quite happy with the results, especially as I never welded or did metal work before... The cramped space in my garage is some challenge, especially when it will have the fresh paint on. That's why I want to do as much of the underside work done before I have it painted.

75 914: Re the driving, yes, I would like to as well, but for that I have some other cars that can satisfy that for now. Actually, I did drive the car home when I bought it. It was quite a shock compared to my Elise . What amazes me as well is that the car was APK-ed/MOT-ed. The gas lines snapped so easily....

Let us know when you drive the 914, I think it's a very interesting car, especially when fitted with some wider wheels like a 914/6.
Sounds like don't have it for a long time already or?

Cheers guys, I'm going to take on some final engine bay cleaning before repainting it

Elflamo
