I think it really depends on the quality of the material used. Cheap leather or cheap cloth are both awful.

The leather seats in my 911 and A6 are great. I don't think I would like leather in my pickup - the cloth seats there are durable and are holding up very well after 10+ years.

I had a Jetta with indestructible cloth seats that I really liked, then I switched to a slightly newer Jetta with leather. I find the leather far more comfortable on long drives.

But neither is a 'must have' for me.

I hardly notice either one. My truck has cloth. I think my Volt may have leather, my 356s all have vinyl, the 911 has leather. With the improvements in cloth materials of late, I would go with cloth - if you can find it.

Cloth hands down. My opinion might be different if I lived in a colder climate.

I have cloth in the Tundra. Wifes Lexus has perforated leather seat but they also have the AC/Heat optioned seats. Wondering how the Katskin Leather seats hold up over time. And in Louisiana we have summer temps 10 months of the year.

Leather in my car. Cloth in my house.

Need leather.
You need the seat cooler option. It should be mandatory in Texas

Leather resists dirt, and stains much better than cloth, and much easier to quik clean if there is a spill. I like the leather in my Excursion, and Mustang.

The seats on my first car were mostly duct tape. Have never owned a vehicle with cloth. Closest was cloth seat covers in a 914 to protect the leather from the car sitting in the sun with the top off.

Sounds great. Any chance of posting a photo?

I prefer leather. It's easy to keep clean and if you look after it, it only gets better with age.

BTW The Japanese prefer cloth in their luxury cars.

Both. My El Camino has cloth, the old 1980s style Velure. It wears like iron, but is comfy and does not stain easily in the burgundy color. My 911 is leather and also burgundy. I can’t imagine needing seat heaters in the 911. The heaters are crazy good. The ac is great on both cars.

The wife’s Macan was ordered with leather seats, ac and heated seated. Very nice. I se no practical way to upgrade the 86 Elky or 85 911 seats. Love em like they are.

Our truck has 191k miles and hte leather still looks and feels good, even though the cloth webbing parts have since worn out. The Cobra replica has perforated leather seats that are comfy but after 25 years in the sun they need recovered. Even in El Centro CA heat the perforated leather was nice to sit in.

Our sedan has cloth but now wish we had the Katzkin seats in it. The CUV has cloth and I think they would be horrible no matter the material.

I don't know that I would like alcantara inserts in any of ours, but we don't like that material for a couch either. I think they would get warm and be too sticky t slide in and out properly. Then again, all ours has good side bolsters. The Cobra are even adjustable.

I like leather...love the aroma, looks, and feel. And yes, have to keep it moist and supple.
My '83 T-Bird Turbo Coupe had cloth seats...several times during ownership I bought a bundle of Tandy scraps and tossed it under the passenger seat.
Another one, I'd buy a bag of aromatic pipe tobacco, put a slice in it and do the same. Good manly aroma, that.

Sometimes I'll smell my hairy forearm when it's sweaty. The good earthy aroma of a clean animal.
A Human animal.
YMMV, of course. .........
