I had several relationships with very attractive women in my life, but I never married any of them and since I've never once received a father's day card with free tickets to the Maury Povich Show, I'm certain I'm childless.

The plan in life was to skip the first wife that would provide a family, then get fat and ugly and take me for half of what I was worth. Check.

The plan was to just go straight for the Trophy Wife in my 40's. That didn't happen, so now in my mid 50's I have realized the window for the Trophy Wife is closing.

I've now realized the plan had one last piece of the puzzle I never considered:

Never married
No Children...

I do believe I have stepped into the realm of being the "Trophy Husband".

Same here, 16 years later we still hear about how fun and chill our wedding was. Our only big investments were in a good DJ and plenty of booze. We rented a really plain hall and my wife, mother in law, and sisters made all of the decorations.

The cake was not fit for a dog and it was a crowded mess. A year later they were separated. That price did not include the honeymoon.

Funny, I was in a super fancy wedding, it also didn't last a year. I bet they were into solid six figures, the rehearsal dinner was at a fancy steakhouse, the ceremony was outdoors in a really nice place, and they rented the freaking convention center in Kansas City for their reception and dinner that was a solid 400+ people strong. Crazy.....

I worked as a wedding bartender my last two years in college...as a waiter at weddings before that. I have also been to dozens of weddings as a participant or as a friend of the family.

I have never worked/attended a large (120 person plus) wedding that wasn't a goat rope...too much logistics involved.

I worked some really high dollar weddings in the Bay Area and pretty much saw it all. I actually had a FOTB mouth, "Help me" while I was fixing him a drink and the bride was wearing him out over his shoulder. Something was amiss.

I did get a lot of "referrals" for what it is worth. Good to be straight in the SF Bay Area in the late 70's, early 80's.

The keys to a successful wedding:

- Open bar
- Informal dress code after the ceremony and pictures
- Inside/Outside venue in the afternoon
- Live music or a really good DJ
- Buffet: No one likes a sit down meal at a wedding. No one. A small, ****ty salad doesn't taste better when delivered.


The only people who care about the food at a wedding are inconsequential, borderline psychotic.

It's amazing to see how some people just don't realize their own sense of entitlement. My nephew and his wife set up a go-fund me page so they could buy their daughter a car for her 16th birthday. They asked everyone on the invite list to donate $100. Not one single person donated, but the audacity of their request was the talk of the town for some time.

First off: why do people post these things as phone screenshots?

Secondly: reading through the tirade, there are a things that jump out as either severe warning signs, or some master click-bait-ion.

I also can't help but think she had unrealistic expectations for her wedding (thanks Disney!) and maybe this was a singular flaw in an otherwise normal person.

Yeah, hard to know anymore if some over the top article is real or just hunting for clicks.

However if any of you ave see the show "bridezilla" you can see how someone could get all wrapped up in thinking they 'deserve' a $60K wedding. Add to that all the celebrity crazy expensive weddings being publicized and away you go!

I knew a guy who did fireworks displays... one night over beer he told us about a wedding he did, all top of the line booze, a cigar tent with all the finest, and the band was the Beach Boys

If we had $60k that would be cool, do something crazy, fly everyone to Hawaii and get married on the beach.

As it was we were on a tight budget, we were going to run away to Vegas and get a Elvis wedding but at the last minute decided I wanted my elderly parents to be there so got married at the family church. Pastor refused payment and got us the chapel for free (dad slipped him an envelope) then dinner for everybody at the traditional harbor view restaurant.

Your theory sounds good until you go back and re-read this:

...“So we sent out RSVP’s and only 8 people replied and sent us the check. We were f---ing livid.

Either she was drunk for many months or (as I suppose), the drunken post just revealed what a witch she really was all along.

If I got an "invitation" like that, I would have sent them a check for $15 and told them DON'T contact me ever again.

Ours was in a church then reception in a "yacht club" which was this plain building that looked like it was built in the 60's and never touched once completed, we were married in 1989.

Small affair, family and some friend maybe 70 people total mostly because of my parents feeling this need to invite all their friends.

Our entire wedding cost less than 5K split 3 ways between us, my parents and her parents. We have no wedding video and no real wedding pictures. An uncle shot video and it is unwatchable. Photos were done by a family friend who was a "photographer" and came out horrible too. My wife cried over that, now we laugh at it.

Less than 1 year later my cousin got married in NY. We went up for the weeding, it was a 60K affair in 1990, string orchestra, fine dining all the frills.

Divorced 10 months later.

We are still going strong about to celebrate #29 next month then off to Greece for our 30th next year.

If I could go back and do it all over again I would have toned down our wedding even more, no tux's none of the frills. We are so much more laid back now, I own a pair of dress flip flops. They be fancy leather and stuff.

Naw, they can keep the $15. It would be worth it to get them out of my life. Ever hear the expression:

We did have my idiot BIL up the hill videotaping the ceremony. We saw him up there and rolled our eyes. He’s an idiot. We never watched the tape because we knew he’d **** it up bad.
