Good Lord......here's a Blue RC26 in almost perfect and original condition offered on CL in LA area.

Asking price is too high, IMHO, but he's probably not a motivated seller, so can't blame him. The optional center stand is special!

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/mcy/d/san-gabriel-1987-honda-vfr700-f2/7825458767.html

I have owned this bike since 1990. This bike is all original, mechanically maintained, and kept in a showroom like condition. It comes with the single rider seat cowl, and the optional factory center stand. This bike has the unique V4 sound, torque and power, and is a pleasure to ride. The 750 version of this model won the 24 hour endurance record back in 1986. You can own this super clean model now, it has new tires front & rear, a full tank of gas, and is ready to roll. Who is ready to start having some fun?

Too bad it's only a 700 and not a 750 model.

Well that never crossed my mind at all, but OK.

The 750 is a nice bike, but these 700's are by no means no slouch!

I always think back to the time I rode up 101 to go to the bike races at Laguna Seca, Baz. There was an afternoon headwind as we approached Salinas. I kept trying to hide behind my 3/8 fairing and wishing I had a 900 instead of a 750 under me. Sometimes there is no substitute for cubic inches.
What would you say is a 'fair' price for this blue one?

Edit: I don't think his price is unreasonable, all things considered. I just don't think he would get that. At least at this point in time. I bet if I offered him $7K, he would agree to that price. Anything below that would probably be open for discussion. Who knows...just shooting out an opinion.

Now if it was the iconic RC24 - the '86 VFR750 in RWB....whole other story. Much larger market for those.

My next one is scheduled for delivery on Friday so will post an update when it happens.....

Bought another Interceptor tonight. It's in Milwaukee so will be a while until she gets here.

An '86 VFR700F - the early version with the round gauges. Will be my first one with the round gauges.

Some of the work done to her by the seller:

Front Brake Master Cylinder Rebuilt
Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuilt
Front Brake Calipers Rebuilt - All Balls
Rear Brake Caliper Rebuilt - All Balls
EBC HH Sintered Front Brake Pads new
Clutch Slave Cylinder Rebuilt
Petcock Rebuilt - Parts Unlimited
Engine valves adjusted
EMGO air filter
Metal Air and Fuel Supply Carburetor Tubes
Carburetors replaced & rebuilt
New tygon fuel lines
OEM float valves, needles, and pilot jets--ordered genuine from jetsrus.com
JT Sprocket Front 16T
JT Sprocket Rear 46T
RK 530 Gold Chain
Headlight replaced with used from eBay due to damage on original mount tabs
Rear Wheel Bearings - All Balls
Front Wheel Bearings - All Balls
Front and Rear Wheels Powdercoated
90 degree metal valve stems
BT-46 Bridgestone tires. Installed in 2023, no miles.
Front fork fluid replaced with 10W--seals not replaced, records state last replaced 2013
Oil change and filter with Rotella 15W40 conventional
Coolant change - standard green ethylene glycol
Speigler 2-piece front brake lines
Air Tech tail section - not installed
MotoBatt Battery
Regulator/Rectifier replaced
Fuel pump tested working by pumping into receptacle
Fuel tank cleaned with Evapo-rust and not leaking. Has not been refilled with fuel since. Testing was all done via auxiliary tank
Partial spare motor
=========

Runs great but isn't road worthy yet - will need a little more work but nothing major (I hope).

Started out as a RWB. Right now it has the wrong lower fairings on it - but I can use those for one of my Blue bikes and get some others for this one. I think I already have a RWB one.

Nice! Is that a DR650?

One day I'd like to thin the heard as well.

And can see myself ending up with an enduro/adventure bike, as well.

Baz - what are your plans for your VFR collection? Are you trying to corner the market to drive up prices and then sell them off slowly or???

I rode a few of these in the 90s. A buddy had a couple and would trade for my vette if her had a date he wanted to impress. Cool bikes at the time.

Being in virtually perfect condition, I'm surprised this hasn't sold even at the price. Found this in researching a little.

Pretty cool video, Shaun...thanks for sharing! These V4's do have a unique sound.

Yeah....while I think that asking price is not too far out of bounds for this particular example, he probably won't get it in today's market. $7K has a much better chance, IMHO. Standard stuff for vintage vehicle sales.

That is one gorgeous photo....wow!!! I'm jelly about the trails you have and those spectacular views. That's what it's all about, IMHO......enjoy, Cat!!!

Now for my latest acquisition.....

For those keeping score....this is the fourth of the same year, model, and color. This one came in running condition and not needing a whole lot to get her back in proper form.

She just got dropped off last night so I spent the morning cleaning her up a bit and going through the mechanicals. I also transferred out the fuel and replaced with some known fresh non-ethanol I had on hand, just to be on the safe side.

I had to adjust the idle up just a tad and that's all to have a functioning and rideable bike.

Looks like a few more things to do - not sure the dash light(s) are working or the temp gauge. Speedo and Tach work fine.

I took her over to my storage unit - about a 15 minute ride - so plenty of time for a riding assessment. She ran great - SUPER quick! Suspension (rear shock) might need some attention.

You'll also see in the photos one of the previous owners did some surgical stitching with wire to repair the fairings. Eventually I will address this - but for now it doesn't affect anything other than cosmetics.

The tires are both Bridgestone BT-45's. I didn't look at the date codes yet but they look good to the naked eye.

There's also an aftermarket front brake master and braided SS lines. Both brakes work great! As does the clutch and transmission. Very smooth shifting.

I also got a title with the bike....last dated 2024. So I'm thinking that owner probably had the bike serviced and brought up to operational condition including probably the carbs.

I checked and no tool kit but the owner's manual was there.

The fuel tank is in exceptional condition. Zero dents and hardly any scratches. It was coated inside though. Petcock works perfect.

I'll also need to re-cover the seat at some point.

It came with two keys. One fits the ignition and helmet lock and the other fits the fuel tank cap.

In case anyone is interested, I paid $1,500 for the bike and another $400 for transport. I feel very good about the value I received against cost.

A few pics....front one is the new one. Bike in the back is the last one I got (#3) back in December......

Thanks for the video Shaun, that's really cool.

Baz if you only knew how jealous I am.
I can't wait to show you guys my new toy. It's not as cool as a motorcycle, but for this old man it'll provide a diversion from my cameras at least. It's supposed to be delivered today.

Thanks Shaun and Scott.

For what it's worth....last year was a really challenging year for me on several levels. So having this new hobby really helped me cope with "life".

I know you guys can relate.

Also, getting all these bikes is not easy! You might be surprised at the work I put into it.

I tried to get this latest bike last December and the seller just wasn't very helpful (responsive). It eventually sold and I chalked it up to just fate. Then a few weeks ago it re-appeared in a classified by a different person. This time it went better - but there were still some freaking hiccups - stuff out of my control.

You guys in sales FULLY understand how it works. The only way to get things done is by being persistent and never giving up.

In the process though...whew.....it does take a toll on your soul.

So I am going to ENJOY as much as I can with my Interceptors....and hopefully get some of my soul back!
