I finally got my new toy. I must be on the end of the delivery route for UPS as it came after dark last night. I know it's not a motorcycle and this will be the only pic I post of it here in this thread. Thanks for allowing me the indulgence. My son has a track at his house so I can race my twin grandsons.

It was not my first choice in colors but it's sold out every where so beggars can't be choosers. You'll never guess where I bought it from either.

I hear ya - here is my buddy Sam on his "upside down" Husaberg 570 along with my XR650L. Mine is great for this kind of riding, just relaxed logging/fire road "touring". Sam's is an all-out race bike for the masses, 100 pounds lighter and twice the power. I've ridden it a bunch, really like it, but am realistic enough to know that those days are behind me. I just want to get in and out in one piece.

I think it may be my "Mini-Ceptor" - the '86 VF500F, Billy. Little lighter than the others and still lots of power and absolutely a blast to ride! I also love the bike's design a LOT!

I remember when those were new. I can almost smell Scona Cycle where we used to get parts for our XR100s and drool over the new interceptors…

Cool memories.

That was fun to jump through, thanks Baz. It will be months before I can get back on my bike. It's been like winter from the 70s here, cold and snow and off continuously. I might start it and let it run today for a little fix.

Cool pic Bill, where was that taken?

I wish I had time for an offroad bike. Man it looks crazy fun but don't have time to exercise the car and the bike as much as I would like as it is.

Thanks. It was an organized motorbike ride around Ōrongorongo farm. The photo was taken about where it says Ōrongorongo track. I could see back to Wellington city and over the other way to Palliser Bay. The great thing about the low tech Honda is you don't ride it or do anything to it, then six months later a couple of kicks and it's fired up and ready to go.

Nice pic, Bill! "My Honda is the tractor." - lol....good one!

============

Ok for those of you looking for a decent condition Mini-Ceptor....here's you chance!

https://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/d/lawrence-1986-honda-vf500-interceptor/7827416814.html

1986 Honda VF500 Interceptor - $3,500 (Lawrence)

This is one of the legendary Honda V-4’s from the 1980’s. An internet search will verify that it was nearly universally loved. Cycle Magazine wrote, “…the engine is devastatingly brilliant.” Cycle World said, “…for straightening out the kinks in a twisty piece of road, the 500 Interceptor is the best bike in its class. Or, for that matter, maybe even in any class.” It is also an extremely comfortable bike for straight-line long distances. It can be registered as an antique in Kansas.

With a V-4 liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve head engine, 6-speed transmission, and box-section perimeter frame, they don’t make 500cc bikes like this anymore. It was only sold in the US from 1984 to 1986. The ’86 model received some minor updates, so this is considered the most desirable model year. This particular bike is not a garage queen. There are a few cosmetic flaws. However, it is in excellent mechanical condition. All of the maintenance is up to date, and it is ready to ride. The title is clear and in my name. I have owned this bike for the last 8000 miles, since 2003 (I have several other bikes that I ride too). It has been parked inside as long as I have owned it. I would love to keep it, but I am out of space in the garage. (Somewhere my wife got the idea that there needs to be room in the garage for the car.)

DETAILS:
Just over 41,000 miles
Starts, runs, and rides as it should
Does not use oil, no leaks, no unusual engine noises
Mostly stock, with a few minor exceptions (turn signals, seat…)
Pirelli Sport Demon tires front and rear, with 1500 miles
Chain and sprockets with 4,500 miles
New battery
Recent maintenance records (oil—synthetic--recently changed)
Original owner’s manual, plus digital service manual
Extra parts, including stock air filter, seat, rear shock, front wheel

Use it to commute to work, as a Sunday morning sport bike, and to ride to vintage motorcycle meets. It’s a timeless motorcycle that was ahead of its time. If you can’t have fun on this motorcycle, you need to get a car. Low-ballers need not waste time. Test rides only with cash in hand. If this ad is still posted, the bike is still available.

Good deal for someone who wants one of these iconic Interceptors, that needs a small amount of work.

1985 Honda vf1000r
$4,500
Listed a day ago in Burlington, NC

I am selling this 1985 Honda VF1000R with 17,669 miles. It had been sitting since 1998. Compression was 210-215 lbs. Carbs cleaned and synchronized, New air filter, oil and filter, spark plugs, fork seals (forks replaced) New chain and sprockets, new brake pads, new master cylinders front and rear, new clutch master cylinder and New Pirelli tires. It runs great! and needs just a few items to be 100%. The items still to be done are:
Starter button sticks
Missing the side cover that says Cam Gear Drive.
Fairing cracked when I tightened up the mirrors.
No turn signals
I also have a bunch of spare parts for this.
1 Upper and 3 Lower fairings in primer
2 sets of radiators
Front fairing bracket
2 swingarms and shocks
wiring harness
3rear fairing brackets
Plus lots more if you are interested. Located in Burlington, NC
Clear title in my name

Moved into a larger unit today. It's a 15x30 just like my other one and also has electricity....and is right next to it!

9 bikes in it at the moment...which are the same ones in the previous 10x30.

Nice to have the xtra room and electricity!

Moved the 2nd Gens in first -

Then the airhead and two of my 1st Gens -

I also replaced 3 batteries with the Motobatts, which I hope will provide 10 years of service. One of my 1st Gens feels like it has a brake issue so will have to look into that and the RWB 2nd Gen isn't running as it should - maybe carbs?

Oh well.....lots to do and will enjoy every minute!

This 08 Griso should be in the garage by Thursday. Always wanted one but they’re pretty scarce. This one turned up locally.

Tracked this down for my '96 as a replacement for the one that got dinged when my son let it tip over in the garage.

Looking forward to the warm weather so I can put it on.
