Just saw some of my buddies and their VW buses getting attention.
Special attention to this bus.

Wait, Alonso is racing? Did he quit F1? I'm out of touch.

That track really shows it's size when bereft of paying customers. Not a butt in a grandstand.

Plenty of paying customers in the sold out infield and camping areas. Crowd for the Roar Before was nice sized as well. Different crowds for different events. Always liked roaming vs. an assigned seat.

I woke up at 4:00 am this morning. The rain was to start at about 5am. I packed up my truck and trailer and headed home. With a 100% chance of for the rest of day I thought the best place to watch the finish was at home where its warm and dry. No regrets.

G'day!

Visibility is way down and I'm not sure they will allow the race to continue much longer. Looking at the radar.....this rain is not going to let up anytime soon either. The race may get cut short this year.

I raced there in a tropical storm in May 2012. Both of my stints were in heavy rain. It was like driving in Canadian winter conditions in the hammer head. I got us up into 10th place after my last stint.
It was fun coming into corner 3 hot and watching the fast ‘good ol boys’ try to brake and turn at the same time and go flying off into the grass and tires while I would straightline brake, turn in, and get on it at the apex. I did pretty much all of my passing there and in the bus stop (there was a bunch of standing water there as well). That was one of my most memorable races ever.

I watched the driver introductions from behind the stage next to the Wayne Taylor Racing pit. I stayed until the start of the race and the first pit stop. This is the view before they went over the wall. I made a video of the stop and will upload it soon.
