Agree on most of the above — you said it well. But I’d still argue that it’s highly unusual for certain death to be the binary consequence of not achieving perfection in one’s chosen endeavor.
Thought provoking movie. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Honnold reminds me of cave diver Sheck Exley. Exley was a record setting cave diver. He went deeper and further into caves than anyone ever had. He wore a rebreather and would stay down for hours to decompress. Right up until the time he miscalculated and drowned while diving the world's deepest sinkhole in Mexico. The 1,080-foot-deep Zacatón cave.
Maybe now the Honnold has made the ultimate free solo, he’ll move on to something else.

Yeah...I could see him at a desk job - bored out of his skull...giving new meaning to the term "climbing the walls."

Aerkuld, sir.
Well said. What also struck me was the confidence he put in each maneuver. Sometimes, the only way out of a situation was to sort of leap for it. He’d swing a leg out so his toes could land on a tiny ledge and stick there, spread-eagled, like he’d been velcroed to the rock. |

Alex seems pretty down to earth. (Ugh, bad pun) . Here's an interesting video of him breaking down climbing scenes from some movies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7qSiEKntQA I cannot get it to link properly, sorry
