Looks like my 18 month probation period is up...
I feel the need, the need for speed!

I just did one of those courses about 4 months ago. No ticky or infractions, but the ins. company said they'd lower our rates if we completed one of these courses.
They also said you had to spend a certain amount of time to complete it. But I got impatient and started clicking through it. Took less than 15 minutes total and got full credit. Wife did the same. The only downside was the endless spam I got afterward, good thing I used a garbage Gmail account. I'm sure there are legit versions that insist on it lasting for however many hours, but the one I took didn't. |

I get a lot of speeding tickets. One time I got pulled over because I had turned down my V1 and didnt hear it going nuts while doing 20 over. Many of the roads here have insanely low speed limits.
i.e. - there is a 2 lane road with houses along it, side roads coming in and driveways from houses. The surface is dicey as is in, broken up. Speed limit 45 It opens up into a 4 and divided road with no houses along it, not a single drive way and any side road has decel and acceleration lanes to get on and off the road. Speed limit 35. It is an extension of the 2 lane road and they drop the speed 10 MPH for the wide open part. Anyway, I am always extremely polite and nice to the officer and try to make the stop as bland as possible. I always get a ticket lawyer after and he negotiates to drop the ticket, keep the court fees and wipe it off he record. That has worked 3 out of the last 3 times over about the last 7 years.

Until it's 9 pm on day 89 and you're only 30% through because you got lazy about doing the no-brainer class... Second time, I took in the in person class. 7 hours, includes lunch, a video or two and lots of sitting around taking about basic stuff. 7 hours FLEW by, and I was on my way. I will always taking in in person from now on. For those out of state, for anything other than 95+ mph or gunfire, you can take one class a year (and pay a fee) and one deferred adjudication a year (the court ignores your case, and you pay a BIGGER fee) and not get anything on your record. So, you could get popped twice a year for speeding, and no one is the wiser, as long as you cough up the roughly $300ish each time.
