I really want to hate it but I can't
![]() ![]() I started designing and collecting parts to build a 917 inspired space frame mid-mounted pre-73 coupe silhouette road car The project was canned because I loved driving the 964 car too much that I bought for the engine/gearbox to break it for parts ![]()

The tire size is fine to me, but the track is too wide. It should be similar to the front track.

Wide in the back is okay at 935 levels of stagger, this is a bit much

Looks like the Tuttles had the same idea, and their version seems to be as visually pleasing as the one the OP shows....

![]() Nothing wrong with building weird cars. They take the body and put the difference under it and I take the GT3 parts and put it under a Beetle. Ferdinand would be proud. Smack talk encouraged. |

I like the green one in the first post, though it feels like I'm not supposed to.
As for your project, Darkstar, go for it! I prefer the old school beetle looks, but I am curious to see your build.

These 3D pics of half11 are for me very interesting ones... I think this is the direction Porsche should have gone with 911 long time ago... the half11 is half true about their joke framed 'missing link in history' theme... But when I think about it further, why great cars like 908 and 917 didn't get any incarnation to street and sports cars? I can see this study as what could have been if 911 would have transformed to mid engine supercar in the end of 70ies or 80ies when adapting 908 rear... I see this very interesting study... However first car they are actually building is unfortunately still the one with formula rear...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQbBLwO1OdI ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Honestly I got so interested of these, that I am considering building my next aircooled with something like this... As Emory got his idea of 356 turbo finally done... You can do cool things as you can with cafe racer bikes, why not to do 'cafe racer 911' ? ![]()

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to mods.
I don't see the point of something that looks like a narrow bodied (or wide-bodied) classic 911 in the front and having a back end that looks like a giant F1 car or maybe a Can-Am car with no body.

Please someone give the baby Jesus some kleenex to dry his tears. And some water, he must be dehydrated too.

This is 100% why I would never build a car from scratch...someone would hate it.

Enough that I dropped out of the car scene (no cars and coffee, that sort of thing). |

Huh, so it looks totally different than the original drawings, and he changed the stuff that was being bagged on harshly
