That's pretty rich considering the discussion involves the most thin-skinned (and orange) POTUS ever.

Sorry if that offends the perpetually perturbed TDS'ers.

Even dawgs don't like the POS...

Not to mention the skin of his adoring scrubbers; sun-baked, ancient parchment.

Lefty loosey, righty tighty. I rest my case. The potus in question is a "chaadad" IMO

of course AF1 is any AF plane that the POTUS is flying aboard.

No kidding. He got the TDS'ers to chant "Red White & Blue wrong for AF1"

I have no strong preference. I know that a local design firm did the current 747 paint layout. ...spring boarding off of the 707 design of POTUS Johnson era.

I kind of like the flying flag look of "Trump's proposal." -I fully expect that a group of designer came up with that, and not Trump doodling on Photoshop. But.... if it helps feed the TDS rage....

Let’s paint the plane like the flag and then put a flag on it.

Brilliant. Just another example of a douche move so that his kids can claim he totally revamped AF1. The current palette reflects our colonial period and to this day is still iconic. Spending money that doesn’t need to be spent is the new mark of a tRump conservative.

javadog 06-14-2019 02:20 PM

He’s talking about painting a couple planes that haven’t been built yet, not the current planes. They’re going to have to paint them some color, your comment that he’s spending money that doesn’t have to be spent makes no sense.

rusnak 06-14-2019 03:29 PM

What model will the new AF1 be?

The elongated top deck might make the old color scheme look strange.

As iconic as AF1 is, it does deserve to have a serious look. And yes, it will have the American flag and Presidential seal (really !?!) and no, not because it's Trump but because it is Air Force One.

javadog 06-14-2019 03:37 PM

I think the new planes will be modified 747–800’s.

I don't know how many private planes the guy has, but I have seen the 757 in person, in a maintenance hanger, while I was working on another aircraft in the same hangar (I didn't work on our single aisle aircraft, just the twin aisle). The thing is as black as the void in George's head.

C'mon, javadog, we have all seen case after case wherein George's Google knowledge trumps others' real life, first hand experiences.

We have all witnessed this time and time again. While it's impossible to guess just how many of us he has gone after with his vile spite, I think I hold the all-time PPOT record for duration, depth, and sheer effort expended over the course of one of George's signature attacks. It's a little unnerving to stop and realize that I hold a somewhat special place in the heart of such a clearly deranged man. Maybe someone else can step up and knock me out of first place.

Yup. Two of us that are contributing to this discussion have seen it in person and agree.

I do too. And, as has been pointed out already, these are proposed color schemes for the new airplane, not a repaint of the old.

I wonder what the hourly cost of a 757 is...

Nope. Trump's white house cut 1.3 billion on the new plane. (The tRump conservative administration saved 1.3 billion)

Before taking office, Trump criticized the "out of control" costs in the government's initial contract with Boeing to revamp the fleet. The White House said last year that its new contract came in $1.3 billion lower than the initial proposal.

Ask Nancy Pelosi. In her first stint as Speaker of the House, she became the first congress person in that position to demand, and receive, the use of her own jet on our dime. It was a 757.

According to this article https://www.factcheck.org/2008/12/nancy-pelosis-personal-jet/

"After this story was posted, we received word from Eric Sharman, deputy chief of public affairs at Andrews Air Force Base, confirming what Pelosi’s spokesman told us about her aircraft use. Sharman said that Pelosi has in the past used the C-20B and the slightly larger C-37A, depending on availability, and that these may or may not be able to make a nonstop cross-country flight depending on conditions. He confirms that Pelosi has used the C-32 once and only once, when no other planes were available."
