Another "hot" joke for wd...

A sweltering hot night in Florida, but the heat didn't prevent a guy and his girlfriend from making love.

After the sex, during the afterglow, the girlfriend would gently massage the guy's penis.

Curious, he asked; "Not that I mind, but why do you do that every time we have sex?"

Giving him a gentle kiss, she replied; "Because I miss mine."

I don't tolerate mid-90s and humidity like I used too .... but I know that mowing my lawn is not a life & death risk either .

If'n ya can't take the heat ... then stay out of the sou... errr... kitchen

Definitely don't live somewhere where you hate the climate. That would be a large and growing part of North America for me. I say growing because there are places like Denver that were never too hot until the last 20-30 years but now are.

And PWD, an apropos story for the times.

The heat finally broke here yesterday and with it came winds that made me chase my lawn furniture!

Heat is no joke:

Here's a pretty good article about the danger of heat:

The reason it rarely gets over 100 degrees here? High humidity ... so there is that .

Takes more sun energy to heat wet air verses dry....

....tain't much to brag about tho' ... it's freakin' hot and I gots stuff to do outside!

If this is my last post on PPOT .... start an AWOL thread

Well.....after living in Florida for the past 54 years, I'm kinda used to it.

What has changed is I'm older now and depending on what I'm doing it gets to me more.

Especially when doing strenuous work outside like the palm tree trimming I did this morning. I finally had to stop and get back inside to the AC. Will resume later after I've cooled back down and had a rest.

I love working outside and will continue to do so no matter what - just have to take breaks and not overdo it.

Keep it up Baz. Keeping moving is one of the most important things in life.
It's breaking 80 here, and we're getting a bit of a cool down for the next few days before it gets back into the 90s.

That post by Ayes above is surreal; in contrast, it was 82 degrees, 74% humidity and dew point of 72 at 1:00AM last night here in Fort Worth TexASS (I know this because I was at work, sweating my ass off at the time). Our ten day forecast shows "lows" that will be lucky to get out of the 80s and highs at or near 100. Only 4-5 months before the first, two-day cool front, at least!

Last year (I think) Steve M. was posting his weeks on end of 100+ daze in Houston or there abouts .... prolly a nice "dry" area like 'Nawlins .

If ya don't contribute to the weather .... is it still OK to beotch about it?

100% Marv!

Glad you are getting a break out there.

It happens here when we get some rain.

Also afternoon breezes are a Godsend!

Keep charging, my friend......

I decided to look this up because there just seems to be a general consensus that this is the case. i.e., it's so much warmer today than 20-30-40 years ago. In the case of Denver, the average has risen about a degree in the past 70+ years. Personally, I wouldn't notice the difference between, say, 71 and 72 degrees.

When I lived in Michigan, there was a similar consensus that we don't get any where near the amount of snow we did when we were kids in the 60s and 70s. I admit to even thinking that myself. I remember snow storms with many feet of snow, and lots of them!! I think part of it stems from everything seeming 'bigger' when you were a kid (ever visit your high school and realize how tiny the hallways are compared to what you remember?). Anyway, looking all the way back to the 1920s to current day average snow fall in the Detroit area - there's not a whole hell of a lot of difference. I didn't add it up, but it almost looks like there's more snow now. It's surprising.
