Dang,
Talk about “planting” a landing. That gets the “Kerchunk” award.
Reminds me of this.....just not as bad.

The last Delta 747, location: Marana AZ.

Delta stripped sections of the skin and other areas off to create aluminum medallions, plaques, tokens, etc to give to employees and people they wished to include in commemorating the 747's service to the airline. I was impressed with how far they were able to take it down without a complete structural collapse. I wasn't in the area when they 'dispositioned' it further, probably with a backhoe.

Next 185 upgrade: Titanium main landing gear legs from The Landing Gear Works. I had them polished, no paint needed now. There is a 14 lb weight reduction on each leg, right where the Skywagon needs it. I'm installing a Pponk gear box reinforcement STC, new hardware and new brake lines at the same time. This is a great refresh package of the main gear after 38 years of service.

Great upgrades for the 185! Tommy Anderson at TLGW’s gave me one of my first jobs in aviation, 37 yrs ago. Followed by a couple years working for the Knopps at PPonk Aviation. Most of my early career was spent in a 185 on floats. Most fun I’ve had in aviation! I’d enjoy stopping by your hangar sometime to talk P cars and 185’s!

Nice SkyWagons - on wheels and floats. Seaplane rating is a blast! Miss being able to do that.

Before (after a ground loop accident). Not me... Looped hard around to the right and bent left gear structure, broke right gear cross mount, and right wing spar.

After - a month or so ago after a one year reman.

Too many “on-site” airport engineers to get any real effective work done on the Long’s gear legs.
So I just washed the car and called it a day. Had to leave for a ForeFlight FAA Wings glass at the Napa County Airport

Have wanted a Staggerwing since I was a kid...

Would love to have both Beechcraft in my hangar.

Would even love to have a hangar...

The Staggerwing has to be one of the sexiest planes designed by Beach. Just has a classy look to it that represents an era never to be seen again.

Like tcar said, it would be nice to have a hangar like that.... granted, after a 9 year wait on a list, I was able to get into a County rental. It’s better than being in the elements but it leaks like a sieve and there is nothing level or even up to code.

Around here, they get the same $$$$ for a large hangar like that as a my house.

^ This. I think they would still sell today if they made them. A composite one would be a good performer!

I thought that a company several years ago was exploring a composite updated design on the SW. I agree, it would perform... Talk about the ultimate plane to own. Speed, style and space.

Anyone have a current price sheet for body parts I could afford to lose?

Some days I am glad I am not awash with disposable income. Too many choices to make.

I don't think so. They are single engine.

Now if an F5 or T38 came up for sale! Or even better, an F-15 with two F-16 engines!

Didn't Bob Lutz crash his military jet?

Alaska peninsula across from Kodiak, 1990. Land on beach (below high tide line) to pick up rafters......stuck to the axles...float with rafts to high tide line... fly it back to base at King Salmon 5 days later.

Dropping the rafters into Aniakchak volcano at the beginning of the trip that had the failed beach pickup by the wheeled Caravan in the previous photo.
