I have worked the track at Gimli several years ago. Got to see the gouges left in the asphalt by the plane and I know several of the people who were on the track when the plane came in. One of them flew on the plane after it was removed from the track and repaired.

I was talking to an elderly fixed wing pilot about how much we both did not like helicopters. As a young man had a ride in one that involved going under a bridge that cured me of the idea of riding in one.

He sort of laughed, and said it reminded him of a story he heard from another elderly pilot years ago. Turns out, when WW II ended, they had a bunch of B-29s on the wrong side of the planet, so they had the pilots fly them back to the states. When they got to SF, the first guy flew under the Golden Gate Bridge, as did all the others. They were all getting out of the Army Air Corps, or almost all of them, so what are they going to do, kick them out?

I watched Blancolirio this morning, he reported 4 fatalities on board, plus one fatal in a vehicle struck on the highway. His information stated the pilot was still alive.
The Hondajet attained V1 about 1/3 of the way down the runway but did not rotate. The pilot tried to abort the takeoff too late.

The shinny part on the leading edge of the wing is so the two wings stall at the same time.

I think it's mentioned at the later part of episode one.

The shiny material on the starboard wing of K91 outboard of the bend is tape over the gun ports.
You can also see it on the port wing of K87.
The Navy wasn't too impressed with the lack of visibility when landing the F4U on carriers, so sent them to land bases. Meanwhile the Brits developed the technique of approaching the carrier while in a left hand turn which provided better sight lines and made it easier for pilots to get aboard.
Great big brass ones were required to stick one of those big SOBs on a little flight deck.

I'm no expert on the Corsair, but my little Bonanza has similar stall strips.

They do not insure both wings stall simultaneously, or reduce stall speed.
At high angles of attack, they create little vortices that buffet the horizontal tail, so the pilot knows the wing is right on the verge of stalling.

On V-tail Bonanzas, the wedges are right next to the fuselage.
On Bonanzas with conventional tails, the wedges are outboard, as shown here on the Corsair.

Edit: "It will wobble a bit" This is the airplane telling the pilot it's close to stalling, time to reduce the angle of attack (lower the nose).
These may help stall simultaneously, but only in coordinated flight. A bit of slip or skid (uncoordinated rudder) will make the wings stall individually.
Also- The Corsair is a torque monster. Adding or reducing power quickly at low speeds requires aileron & rudder inputs to remain coordinated.

The problem with the Corsair was at high power low airspeed - like when taking off a carrier. Without the right trim settings before launch, they could torque roll over. Here is such an accident from my YT channel:

Hey guys, does anyone have a line on a person/shop that does custom painting on aviation helmets?

A coworker’s son just finished his two year tour with the Thunder Birds and finished up by getting his ride. My coworker is a over the top fan of the TB’s and wants to get his grandfather’s military helmet painted in the 50’s era style like pics. He has a room that is more like a museum from all the TB models and aviation memorabilia.
