Random, but aviation related - this is the Lockheed Martin's Helendale radar cross section facility as spotted from the air on a recent flight. Located in the Mojave Desert about 45 min away from Palmdale. Good reason to get the window seat!
More background detail here: Lockheed Martin Helendale RCS facility

I happened to catch an episode of “The Twilight Zone” - “The Last Flight”.
Typical episode about time travel. A WWI pilot travels through time and somehow lands his plane at a 1960 USAF base in France. The episode was filmed at Norton AFB in SoCal. What was cool were all the different types of AF inventory on the ramp. You’d never see so many different types in one place today: F-86 F-100 F102 C-47 C-54 C-124 T-33 H-5 All of them in beautiful bare aluminum. Neat episode.

Thanks for the info. Very lucky guy. For several years I was on biplane race team and spent many heats holding the tail down while warming up for the race. ![]() A bad place to be with a formula-1 rapidly accelerating towards the back of yur noggin

Old helmet with NVG hooks.
![]() They replaced this helmet in 1995 with a new, better version. They let you keep your old one. I made a lamp! The phallic thing to the right is the tip of the fuel prob on a CH-53E. The thingy at the end of the thing sticking out the front of this thing, a picture I took: BTW, I love me some T-34. This is me and my 34C on a cross country to Columbia, SC in flight school. Turbine power, Baby!

Always wondered why the helo minigun didn't have a isolation mount, basic scope, and triangulated/arm-braced hand grips.
It's a mighty thing. Are the tracers enough? |
