Hi
Please see link below for reporting regarding the July 10, 2017, loss of a KC-130T transport plane belonging to VMGR-452
Included is an Animation of the inflight break up sequence.
Footage of the recent Turkish C130 loss has similarities.
Very sobering stuff.

No More New Bonanzas

Beechcraft to end production of the Bonanza after an 80 year production run (earlier V-Tail pictured). Very sad news but Beech only sold five model G36s last year so understandable. Also ending production of the twin engine G58 Baron (only two sold in 2024).

If you like Beechcraft and would like to visit a great museum that is all Beech, visit the Beechcraft Heritage Museum in Tullahoma, TN. Number 23 in the top 50 things to do in TN. I have been going to that museum and the fly ins since I was a young boy. Back then it was just a two room log cabin. It is now a large complex consisting of numerous hangers and a large building. It covers many Beechcraft models starting with Serial #1 Travel Air and Serial #1 Staggerwing and goes through all the other piston models. We even have a Starship and a Staggerwing without fabric. Now that is a cool exhibit.

I invited my early 911 buddies there one year and thought they would only spend 15 or 20 minutes. They stayed well into the evening! Yes, it is that good. Well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.

This is a Sikorsky S-52 - Someone bought the plans and certification from Sikorsky and sells this as a kit heli called a Hummingbird.

A fully certified design you can build as a kit.

I have been watching the building of one of these by the guy who has C&C Equipment in Indiana. He has a plan to use the bird to get to equipment auctions. He got his rotary wing license this fall and has been building time. I suspect his own build will take close to another year.

I'd be very interested in the quality of manufacturing around the gearboxes... If it's a Sikorsky design.. I imagine it is good...

This ac has been around for a while now. We spoke to the owner at the 04 AV. He bought piles of actual sikorsky stuff in the deal. I dont know which parts of the kit or if any is original skrsky stuff. That said, I'd have absolutely no hesitation getting in one this instant right now.

This is actually a Sikorsky S-52. If you look closely at the newer version it utilizes the windscreen and nose section from a Bell 206. Probably a good thing as far aesthetics and replacement. My concern would be the blades. How have they been stored, are they new, used? It only takes a tiny amount of damage to render a blade useless. I remember an Astar I used to fly experienced some hail damage as it couldn't get relocated to a hanger. To eyeball the blades they looked perfectly fine. A detailed inspection revealed they were trash.

A lot of Airbus planes grounded. How does solar radiation corrupt data/programming?

Airbus has warned of potential travel disruption as it upgrades some 6,000 operational A320 aircraft, after an incident on a JetBlue flight last month.

“Analysis of a recent event involving an A320 Family aircraft has revealed that intense solar radiation may corrupt data critical to the functioning of flight controls,” the aircraft manufacturer said in a statement.

The venerable Cirrus SR_22.
With parachute (never underestimate a lack of flat ground when there is immediate need)

The Veloce ANG Patriot claims to be a serious contender as a DIY experimental.
(the website has specs on many small GA)
