A friend got a ticket for his dog not being on a leash, in a town about an hour from his home, he forgot about it, court day passed, he was notified that an arrest warrant had been issued. He went to the police station to try and get it straightened out. When he got to the police department, he was booked and thrown in jail, not the way he envisioned spending his Birthday..

An update to close out this thread (personal pet peeve when people don't do that),

Turns out the ticket was real.

The town wasn't trying to scam me out of money.

When I called I was nice and the lady was nice back.

My white Jeep isn't a black four door Toyota so I had to send proof(by fax, I didn't know people still used them).

The judge dismissed the ticket so everything is good.

I really thought this was a scam where the town writes a bogus ticket and then people just pay it to avoid a hassle. This is Jersey after all.

Why would that even need a court???

here it's
get ticket
pay ticket

or

don't pay ticket
get it(and late fees) deducted off yer tax return, or added to yer taxes , and not paying means the bailiff comes collect yer belongings

The only way such a thing can end up in court here, is if you wanna fight the ticket...

^^^ Yep. Have 3 vehicles that were going to be removed from my home on 10/03/19 by the local municipality. Scrapped! I called, and it's good now. Very nice person, understanding of the situation.

However, I was in fits before I could do anything, even with knowing the proper action. Then the letter came. Every one of mine were considered JUNKED VEHICHILES.

I moved one vehicle, then another, the last has lit a fire under my arse to get it finished.

Neither do they have it here, but they outsource the confiscation if there is non payment.
