Nailed it ^

I'm still stunned that people are arguing that the debut window shattering was ACTUALLY part of a master marketing plan. ...you know, because Musk is such a dreamy genius.

Fanatics tell themselves the darnedest things.

Interesting observation to be made here, but I dare not PARF this up.

Maybe so, but something tells me that a lake NE of Emporia, KS is pretty far down the list. Cars and SUVs have an abundance of urban applications where an electric car can actually make sense. But trucks, especially trucks that are actually used, are much more likely to be miles off of the beaten path. It will probably sell to the green urban cowboy, but I don’t see this making any meaningful inroads with the current full sized truck crowd.

Did anyone take note that the Ford is either 2 wheel drive - or- 4 wheel drive and someone conveniently forgot to engage it?

The thing I anticipate being most interesting is how will Detroit react to musk trying to steal their golden goose.
Pickemups are big biddness, Detroit makes a lot of money building and selling trucks. Lots and lots.
They will not take this sitting down, no matter how ridiculous the muskmobile looks.
Only a matter of time before they take the gloves off and roll out better versions.

You're missing the big picture:
they used flex-seal to hold the trucks together. That stuff is amazing, it even works under water!
To prove it, we built an entire electric truck out of flex-seal and drove it across the Atlantic ocean ...

Tesla is certainly getting a lot of mileage out of this marketing stunt

I am toying with putting a deposit on one just to hold a place in line.

I just want the bottom line one with 250 mile range and no real mind blowing acceleration.

I wanted, and was waiting patiently, for the Workhorse W-15 to roll out. It seems to have fallen on financial hardships and has been delayed.

So my other option is the Rivian or Atlis Xt

https://www.atlismotorvehicles.com/xt-truck

I am not a fan of the looks of the Tesla truck, I do not get it. I also do not like El Camino's and do not understand why everyone likes them.

I do want a Electric work truck. On my worst days I drive 100 miles maybe 140 so a 250 to 300 mile range truck would be perfect for me.

Right now I am toying with getting my one crew a Prius V since 99% of their work is residential and they honestly do not NEED to be in a pickup truck. At least I can enjoy 45MPG over the 20 they get now.

??

How so?

I can grab a used Prius V for 12K.

A used Toyota Tacoma is the same price.

One gets 25MPG the other gets 45 MPG

A brand new Toyota will run me over 30 grand now.

A EV Pickup is about the same price.

One gets 25-30 MPG the other will get the equivalent of 80 MPG when you factor in the cost to charge it.

One needs maintenance, oil changes etc.. the other does not which = less down time or trips to get oil changes.

It is a no brainer for me, I want EV fleet vehicles. I have 2 crews driving about 60-100 miles a day. They will pay for themselves in no time flat.

Tesla isn't going to start producing them until late 2020. Seriously doubt they hit the projected 39,900 price. Also, Tesla won't have any Fed credits by that time. The Rivian is projected at 69,000 though they will have full tax credits.

Yep.
Tesla has yet to hit a price target. All part of the circus shell game.

Rivian is in the old Mitsubishi factory that is 5 miles from where I sit. I was skeptical until Ford kicked in some money. They seem to be the only electric car maker getting advice on how to make cars from a company that makes cars. That said, they still don't deserve being handed my tax dollars.

There was this from last summer (spoiler: one electric Ford truck drags around 40-something trucks in a million pounds of rail car)
