Maybe this is a lesson for Bernie Sanders supporters?

I'm in Charlotte, NC which is about 1 mil population, not so small, but not big either. There really haven't been any local media stories about real hard core panic buying like we are seeing on the national media. I was in our Trader Joe's in the University section yesterday and it was no different than any other day in TJ's. No lines, fully stocked (except the tiny meat section), people with just a few of the usual items (wine, cheese, crackers, Dutch Kringles and produce). On the way home I passed a Harris Teeter, an Aldi's and a Publix, (all food markets) all had half full lots, no lines. So i'm wondering is the panic confined to large dense cities, or is my experience an anomaly? Is this a big city thing only? Like many places as of today, all schools closed, many working from home, etc., but we are not feeling any sort of panic like on national TV.

Panic buying is in full force in SW Oklahoma. Kicked into high gear on Thursday or Friday and has been non stop ever since.

There was a tiny amount of good news in yesterday's Italian numbers. New cases only increased by a hundred over the day before. Far better than what we have seen. I hope today's numbers continue that slowing trend.

I'm not sure if it was panic buying or just the fact that a lot of parents weren't expecting the kids home for three weeks this time of year. I went to the grocery store to grab some more Sam Adams (only store in town that carries it!) and there were lines at every checkout lane. This store normally only has 2 lanes open but 5 were open and had at least 4 people deep at each lane. A nice lady let me go ahead of her because I only had the one item. I'm not sure if she was panic buying or not but she appeared to be stocking up on Mt Dew.

Talking to a friend who lives in a smaller town (7,000 - 10,000 pop???) and reports on reddit in another town of comparable size and there is quite a bit of buying going on with TP et al being out. Not sure if it would quite reach the panic definition yet.

This is in southern MN.


Drove by a Walmart about an hour before closing on Saturday night and parking lot and shopping carts coming out of the store looked normal. This is in the city proper.

And now I can't get milk. We go through about 2 gallons every 4 days (3 small children). I bought 2 gallons on Thursday. Now we're out and so is every store in town. Apparently people are hoarding milk, which means a lot of it will go bad. Meanwhile, my two year old wants milk. In theory, consumption rates shouldn't be any different than over the summer.

The overreaction is really pissing me off.
