Shopping with wife
So Mrs. OnZedge's BMW has a blown power steering pressure hose (new one on the way from our host).
I have to take her grocery shopping. I hate grocery shopping with my wife. How I managed to make it less of a chore: ![]() Wow. Greenwise Market shopping carts have polyurethane wheels for a nice "ride", AND they have a beverage holder!!

Nice bag! Your wife in the foreground is kinda masculine looking with the legs and foot apparel.
![]() Edit, wife and I shop regularly for food at local Sprouts and Vons. I am loathe to shop at department stores, I guess i did the right thing because now she no longer asks me to go with her LOL. Last edited by JavaBrewer; 10-05-2019 at 04:43 PM.. |

Either she goes supermarket shopping or I do. I can't see the point in both of us doing it.
I do get dragged around the fashion shops with her. And I don't mind, cute shop assistants. And I'm happy to say the dress looks great, or NO, doesn't look right. |

We argued a bit on why I always wait for her in the car. I relented and within a few seconds I was told to stand with the shopping cart and watch her purse while she took at least 5 -10 minutes looking for the perfect pumpkin. I went back to the car

I'm always with the gf when she goes shopping. Sometime it is 5x a week at the mall looking at more jewelry, clothes or bags to buy.

That's when I often get calls from my old Buddy Jim in Sarasota...he in the car, waiting for Bev to emerge from a store.
Gave me a biz idea...a little bar with pool tables & other games in box store parking lots. A refuge for husbands.

After 36 years we rarely grocery shop together. Very different goals and objectives. If it MUST be done, my typical approach is to just relax, shut up, and push the cart while she does her thing. I assume the role of pack mule and avoid qualitative discussions on most things. One area she appreciates is that my dad was a farmer in his youth and taught me how to quickly spot the best produce.
I avoid malls like anthrax but if we MUST go together I can usually be found on a bench outside her store of choice, simply watching the eye candy walk by.

Back when I was married I was vacationing with my wife and my sister.
My sister asked me if I wanted to come to the mall with them? I asked her if the mall had a knife shop. She asked me why? I said so that I could slit my wrists ![]()

Get off my lawn!

My parents would go to a mall that had a restaurant-bar that overlooked the main mall area. Dad could go to the bar, have a drink, and watch the people down below. Mom would shop, and come get him when she was done.
I go to the mall only to buy new jeans. I know where to park for a "good safe end spot" close to a side door, and walk right to the men's section, try on three pair and if that really are all the same size and they fit, I buy them all, and go. Back in 5 or 6 years when those look like the jeans most kids buy now, all ripped up and worn out. I don't buy pre-worn out jeans. If we go grocery store shopping, I go so I can get the stuff I like, otherwise she just gets her stuff. I have not been clothes shopping with her in close to 20 years. I order my shorts that I wear from spring to fall on line. I have plenty of shirts already. Just today we had to go to Lowe's for a bag of water softer salt. The web site said it was on aisle 48, so we went right to it, got is and checked out in minutes. We were there at 8:30 AM.

https://babylonbee.com/news/hobby-lobby-unveils-husband-daycare I would bet there is no pool table or bar, but at least husbands don't have to wander the store endlessly while their wives shop for more crap.

I got out of clothes shopping with my wife and daughter years ago by exclaiming loudly in store in a shocked voice " how much? " This was after my then 9 year old girl dragged me around the entire Mall of America looking at clothes and then wanted a second lap to buy stuff she had missed on lap one.

Men go to the store to buy the stuff they want. Like I go when I need a white shirt, I do not look a blue shirts or any other clothes. I went to the store to buy a white shirt. Stuff could be on sale and I don't even notice.
Woman go to the store to look at everything. Long ago I was at the mall with my soon to be wife, she was looking at the sale rack, all items size 10, she wares a size 2. I asked, why are you even looking? Even if they gave it to you it will not fit, whats the point?????

Usually I just volunteer to do the grocery shopping. She gives me the shopping list and I'm there at 7-7:30 and bang it out in 1/3 of the time it would take her.
Being German it gives her time to dust, vacuum, do the floors, wash the bed linens, etc which she does every Saturday. Then she can run her errands (Ulta, Home Goods, Target, etc.) while I futz around in the garage and yard.

I actually don't mind shopping with my wife. Since she recently started another job as a school administrator and is in the process of ironing out a ton of leftover problems from the former Principal and Superintendent, her time is pretty limited. So I don't mind doing food shopping, etc. She's a frugal person, so (usually unnecessarily) looks to me for confirmation on purchases. When we get the time together go do those kinds of things, it's part of our time together away from her usual grind. With clothing and accessories, my opinion (which is usually spot on) is usually the decider.
