And now my efffing needle is leaking fuel. FML. Two days and it's still not done.

Can anyone recommend a good hose? This is the hose that came with my Ryobi after not more than 10 uses. TIA.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603034016.jpg

That's a start for now, :) Mine is 20 years old and still GREAT.

+1, 15 years on my Honda powered Home Depot? I forget where I bought it...

We no longer use pump gas instead, we buy those cans of non ethanol fuel from Home Depot or gardening shops on all our small engine equip.

You need to find stainless hardware. All the generic ends are steel and poorly treated (plated). They make them cheaper..... and now you see where too.

Find a local hose/fitting place that can replace those ends with SS ones.

What's the problem? It looks like the O-rings are in good shape. Is it leaking or what?

It was leaking significantly at the wand end. Low pressure out the nozzle, and free bath at the trigger.

Yeah, that sucks.

Lexus4321 10-18-2020 09:32 PM

1 reason why that happens is sheety design. The entry on the end of that connection should be tapered ("crowned"). Look inside the port they connect into, the water exiting there does not exit a hole same size as the wand connection end, nor does the end of the fitting mate up against anything in the pump exit port !!! So basically water PSI is just slamming into those rusty faces all the time, hence why that rust happens all too fast.

You want it to last, find some stainless fittings from local hose/fitting place, then take them to a local machine shop and have them taper the inlet so that the water PSI has a smoother transition from pump exit into the fitting, etc. Maybe run a 45-60deg taper, run it in leaving about 20-50 thou at the edge (so it's not knife sharp, etc).

Until then, they will be rusty and problematic.

My Home Depot/Honda pressure washer is still working well, even with ethanol gas. I turn of the fuel valve and let it run out of fuel. I also change the oil every year and a new plug properly gapped.

The pull cord broke. I ended up just using the shorter cord and it still starts fine.

We bought this Husky unit, and love it so far. I have probably 10-15 hours of run time on it throughout this year with no issues. It will be interesting how it behaves in the Spring for the first time running after Winter.

I'm hoping it is okay to tag on to this thread. I'm looking for an electric PW. I have an old one (15 years?) I got from my Dad years ago. I think he got it from Costco. 1300 psi it says and made in Italy. It works okay for most applications. It is starting to act up. Motor starts going faster while I'm using it. What is the current thinking on best "low" pressure electric washer?
This is what I have.

I'm looking at a Ryobi brushless electric at HD.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-2-300-PSI-1-2-GPM-High-Performance-Electric-Pressure-Washer-RY142300/300405751

I'm curious to see if you get any good responses.

astrochex 01-21-2021 08:45 AM

I just picked up this nugget to replace the prior Ryobi. Its very compact and passed the first use test. I also like the easy access placement of the hose and wand connections. I'm now a big fan of the turbo nozzle.

I think user error broke the other Ryobi. I do not recall consistently running water through the unit before turning the pump on. That will not happen again.

I got this one from Amazon this summer. Enough pressure for what I use it for...and I really like the feature of that the motor only starts when you pull the wand trigger.
Yeah..the turbo nozzles are great!

Thanks for the responses. I saw a review mentioning that the motor shuts off when the trigger is released. Good, that's what I have now and I feel it is a must have feature.

I'm a bit confused regarding the model numbers and what they look like.
On the HD website the model number is 141920 (1900 psi) but this doesn't seem to match anything on the Ryobi website. On the Ryobi site I see a model 142022 (2000 psi). I guess the models are changing as time passes, maybe HD is selling the "old" model.

Or maybe Ryobi makes models specific to HD to meet price points?

I bought an electric generic type greenworks one from lowes a couple of years ago. I have run it for hours at a time cleaning out the cattle trailer without issue, well, it uses up the soap dispenser faster than I want it to. No rust on the connections AND it was cheap, on sale at the time.

FIL went through four or five powered ones, none ever lasted more than a year or so. We gifted them an electric one last year. Complained it was not powerful enough before they ever used it. Never heard a complaint after they used it.

Too much PSI can take the paint off your car/trailer/house/concrete.

Nickshu 01-21-2021 10:49 AM

I agree...I ditched my gas pressure washer for a Karcher electric and will never go back . I'd rather buy a generator to run it than another gas pressure washer.
