Headed to the Mennonite feed store, I stop by the local car wash to do a quick pollen eradication for my truck.
Closed. I get the "non essential" (I think) part, but going through an automated, no touch car wash is...what risk, exactly. in the fight against CV-19? I said it a long time ago: We can't close without knowing how to open back up, the metrics at the bare minimum.

We can't drive, walk, or ride a bike more than 5 miles from our house. That leaves few options for a vacation destination.

I would considering saving your money until things get back to normal.
One of the problems right now is people who normally go to places that are not closed are not going there because they are closed. So they are going to places that are open. Which means CROWDS! Now if you can find somewhere to go where there are no other people - that is where you should go. Right now the safe bet is your own home. No pun intended on "safe". Maybe your employer would allow you to re-schedule your vacation under the circumstances. Irregardless.....that's my 2 cents anyway.

You know who is not getting Covid 19? The people staying home.
You know who is not spreading Covid 19? The people staying home. Everyone else going out because they are bored or don’t buy into the pandemic? They are the problem.

How do you know that, Billy?
My g-kids have been quarantined with their parents for 3 weeks. I have been in isolation since 3/13. All are healthy. Tell me how I would be the problem if I went to visit them-a 20-minute drive-in my own car-or if I brought them to my house for the day. |

You are right Uncle.
Oh wait, Maybe you aren’t. My company has almost a hundred thousand employees and we are deemed essential and are taking precautions and still working so that you can sit at home and eat and drink in your bubble of safety. You are welcome. |

Well let’s say you stop for gas on the way and happen to contract CV then spread it (unknowingly) next time you go out for groceries. What if your kids got it unknowingly getting groceries and passed it on to you and / or your wife?

Some people work in fields where they don't come into contact with the general population. (I speak from experience). Also - sometimes it is necessary to go out and get provisions, goods, and materials to sustain a reasonable level of existence. Today I had to go buy a washing machine because my old one still wasn't working despite several repair attempts. Yesterday I picked up provisions for my Mom who stopped driving over a year ago. She's 97 years old and probably wouldn't be able to use a delivery company due to the level of logistical thinking involved. She's not off her rocker but is limited when it comes to new fangled technology. I live on a barrier island and can walk 2 blocks to the beach which is wide open and not at all crowded - now that they prohibited vehicles. Why stay home when I can get recreation via surfing, biking, and walking? And there are many who live in the great wide open and have access to all the recreational activities available for those in that circumstance. Like Skip Newsom (and others) who posts thier pics here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/162067-random-pics-you-have-taken-703.html On the flip side there are some who, as you said, just want to go somewhere to go somewhere and don't have the common sense to understand what is as stake. A month from now things will be better but hells bells right now there's a lot of cray cray going on for sure.....but certainly one size does not fit all when it comes to stay home or not stay home.

You could consider them to be brave, out in the world as canaries in a coal mine. If the situation is THAT BAD then they will suffer some horrible consequence. If the situation is not that bad then you can be pissed off that they took chances and they lived life. I guess.

Are you asserting that anyone who stops for gas or goes grocery shopping is the problem? If so, why are those activities not banned? In fact, they are specifically excepted. What you seem to not understand is that many of the restrictions imposed ‘for our own safety have nothing to do with our safety. This is fascist overreach that, quite frankly, is oppression. |

Case in point, a nursing home in Calgary was infected by an employee. So far, 20 people have died there. More likely will as every resident has tested positive. Brave?

That's what I hear you, and others, saying. I can see where people derive comfort in blaming others -especially those STUPID people-- for their problems. methinks some of U smrat people need to think on this a bit more.

Clearly you don’t understand it. If you stay home, you can’t spread it. Each time you go out, you run the risk of contracting it. After that, each time you go out, you can and likely will spread it. Why take the risk? Are you somehow BETTER than everyone else who is making huge financial/ lifestyle / educational sacrifices right now and staying home? What gives you the ****** right to go galavanting when everyone else is doing their part by staying home?

U-Bill... you do know that this is out there potentially indefinitely, right?
I mean, it may die off naturally, like so many other corona viruses, but we don't know. So what good does it do to call people stupid for taking care of their lives? Being PO'd at the unaffected does you no good. And killing them all doesn't make this go away.

The Constitution of the United States protects my (and your) unalienable rights, such as the pursuit of happiness, which are ‘given’ to us by our creator, not the governor of the state in which I reside of which I am also a citizen. Personally, I choose not to galavant. But just as I have the right to be stupid I choose not to be. This is not a discussion about risk or stupidity. This is a discussion about fascist overreach and how it is right now, unabashedly, presenting itself in the guise of personal and community safety. If you do not see this, God help you.
