Agreed...prob easier to unload/store $1200 worth of beer in kegs.
I might have to buy a handcart.

I admire you for this. Very good idea. My little town will not survive the gestapo. Restaurants, bars, festivals, hotels, craft brews, motels and on and on are our bread and butter.

Get takeout! I picked up dinner from a locally owned pizza joint tonight, they said they’ve busy for takeout which is great.

Exactly, here in Houston, you can get take-out or delivery. My son works in the restaurant biz in the Dallas, a small local chain with several restaurants in the DFW area. When this all happened, they shut all but 2 of their stores for take-out or delivery. Those two stores are doing "well" even though they aren't ideally suited to 100% take-out, they've adapted. I think they are considering opening up another store or two for take-out.

The take-out, delivery and food-truck business in Houston seems to be doing reasonably well. I'm sure they'd love to go back to BAU, but this is better than nothing. I think bars as screwed, but liquor stores are open.

We got ours today. Kids did too.

I wasn’t expecting it and have a feeling someone is going to want it back...

I got take out from a Mexican place today and the manager said business was very good.

Not sure all these places are in that much trouble. Sure, they don't have as much business as usual. But doesn't mean they are going under.

YMMV of course.

We’ve been trying to support local businesses as best as we can, seems like their results are hit or miss. Probably partially based on their food, for instance the pizza place last night said they had been keeping busy but pizza is also the ultimate takeout food. I asked the employee of a favorite brewpub over the weekend And he said they are doing well enough to stay afloat, but they also rely more heavily on beer sales. They get it double because they also brew, with all of the bars closed they aren’t getting any of that revenue.

A lot of the pizza places are closed here...even some that were 100% delivery or take-out. My "goto" was open (dining room closed) until 3-4 weeks ago, and when I asked the college aged kid...she said business was pretty good. One franchise I visited (owned by a former Pelican methinks) has been closed for a month. Methinks the older owners don't think the risk is worth it (for themselves)...but I dunno. I'm tipping everybody....Chick-Fil-A is kicking butt....but their employees (kids) aren't allow to take tips I discovered recently.

If "I" owned a franchise, and didn't need to have it open...I would not risk my own health...YMMV.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of 65% of the major bank's websites were down at some point yesterday due to people logging on and checking for their stimulus money.

Mine was. Today they posted a linky to IRS.gov to get people to go somewhere else. There is a clicky there that is supposed to speed up your getting the direct deposit.

+1

Friend told me she wanted to make her mortgage payment on-line and was unable to for this reason and had to schlep 30 minutes to a branch location to do it.

One of the more prominent Chinese places has been closed now for a few weeks. It's been here for a long time and is very popular. Seems odd that a place that does a lot of take out would be closed. There's some speculation on 'Nextdoor' they closed due to threats against them. Others say they simply didn't want to risk any health issues.

I hope it's the latter and not the former. I miss their Moo Goo Guy Pan!
