I just received 1 lb of SAF yeast, and if anyone is in need, I’m happy to mail some out.
1 lb is a lot of yeast, so let me know.

I will say that the Staub 4 quart, especially in wild colors is often on sale (like, right now) for around $100. Yes, it's still a bit of coin, but it's a great deal at $100 and it WILL help make kickbutt bread. It's the factory putting them on sale, so you can find that price locally is you look around.

I use an inexpensive Martha Stewart enamal Dutch oven for bread. Made this last night.

Preheat the oven & dutch oven to 450°F. Put loaf in. Bake @ 450°F with lid for 30 min, remove lid and continue another 15 min.

Well...how did it work out?

I’m going to do another batch tomorrow.

I ended up buying a Martha Stewart enameled 8 qt oven on sale. Here’s my first attempt at baking. Not too shabby!

GF is getting a sourdough starter in a few days so should be interesting. I did one a few years ago. Could only just taste the sourdough - not very good.

Made bread in the dutch oven for the first time yesterday. Could have used a little more time in the oven, but it worked fine.

The dutch oven is a Calphalon bought from Marshalls or Home Goods. Used parchment paper so the lack of enamel wasn’t an issue.

It was another windy rainy day here so I took time to make the week's bread a little ahead if schedule. We're completely out of bread flour and down to six pounds of All Purpose and 4 pounds of whole wheat. Gotta to to the GB market and get some flour soon.

Now that it's just the two of us again I'm back to mixing dough for a 500 gram loaf and divide it into two boules. Due to the flour situation I mix 400g of All Purpose and 100g of whole wheat.

One boule ready for the lid.

One will go in the freezer for a few days, the other will be gone by Saturday.

I had another bun in the oven so to speak

My sourdough starter is uber healthy.. It doubles in size a few hours after I feed it..

I'm changing things up tonight , having buttermik french toast and sausage for dinner/w ginger cayenne infused Vermont grade B syrup.

could have had the oven hotter, and spent a little more time with the lid off

Tonight’s batch of beer bread before it was devoured... this has a bit of grated mozzarella in it and a little on top.
