Turned out I had a pair of the recalled model.
I've used them a few times. Took them in to HF yesterday and walked out with new red 6 ton model, no questions asked. I always use two separate devices to hold up a vehicle, maybe I'll consider going for three in the future. I'm not surprised if the tooling initially was okay but has worn to the point of being out of spec. There is probably no spec. anyway. There is a drawing somewhere, but is there a spec. on the tooth profile with a plus and minus? Very likely not.

I have a pair of HF 3 ton jack stands like the ones pictured but I bought them before 2013.
I've used them a bunch of times with no issues, I don't think I'll panic and do dumb things just yet

I returned my four 3 ton stands yesterday but they were sold out of all jack stands. I want a pair of the 12 ton & 6 ton, for engine install purposes.

You guys are a bad influence. My Esco jack stands just arrived. Now I have 6, with four being the traditional ratchet/saddle type, that I bought 20 years ago. Two small and two large.
I waffled on getting the Esco jack stand with two heads..saddle type and flat type, but ended up getting the flat.
