Yup. Two parts especially: when he refuses to remove his uniform jacket for the scanner saying he wouldn't submit it to such a disgrace and 2 the care with which the fallen are treated in preparation for their final honor.

This came in an email this morning.

One LCDR and the rest LT Knuckleheads. San Diego, 1989.

In the picture are a C-130 pilot, two F-18 pilots, the rest are helo pilots, H-3's, H-2's and SH-60B. Two are no longer with us: KIA. We all remain friends.

I am on the grooms back right shoulder. He has on a bow tie, kneeling in the middle. The other bow tie wearer, knelling, is the best man, Jelly Roll. Now Dr. Jelly Roll.

My Grandfather, Paul Jensen

I was present at the 2022 La Crescenta Memorial Day Ceremony, the site of the first memorial dedicated to the Viet Nam War.

My uncle, Michael Najarian is commemorated at this memorial. A local Fox reporter made the connection and asked to interview me live.

Talk about being put on the spot. . .

I remember saying;

I am on the waning end of my 3 decade military career. I tell my friends that when I retire we may never see each other again, but like those who never came home, a day will not pass when I don’t think of my brothers and sisters whose sacrifice and service made our way of life possible. To some those may only be names on a wall, but to a veteran they are constant reminders that all gave some, but some gave all.

My son, former Army ROTC and a HS friend of his, Ryan, a Marine Huey pilot stationed at Camp LeJeune NC are here this weekend with their significant others.

All the boys want to do is fish and mow...and not in that order

I let them do their thing, that is why the pictures were taken from space. What they want on Memorial Day is exactly what I always wanted: Honor from my peers, laughter and lies.
