It's a pretty stock piece, Hickory NC stamps them out by the thousands. The mod is pretty clever.

A sled I made from ancient long boards. Everyone is too chicken to try it, including me

Put some angle iron on each side with a pivot....brakes.....make sure to paint and wrap the handles with tape. I did the same thing 45 years ago.
