Someone put a roof over the top of an old tree, and made it his house. An early tiny house.

Weird, the "quote" function is broken.

Red 928, those are some impressive mountains. They must be young (relatively speaking). I do prefer the look of young mountains vs old mountains.

Oklahoma has some of the oldest mountains in the United States, the western Arbuckle Mountains has a core comprised of Precambrian granite and gneiss that is 1.3 billion years old. These Precambrian rocks are overlain by Cambrian rhyolite that is 525 million years old. During the Late Cambrian through the Pennsylvanian, 515 to 290 million years ago, respectively, seas encroached and then retreated, leaving deposits of limestone, dolomite, sandstone, and shale covering the mountains.

I live in the shadow of these striking mountains. But don't be fooled. They are very small and not really mountains. They are at the tail of the Rocky Mountains deep southwest United States, almost in Mexico.

To the north east a few miles is the White Sand Missile range and Trinity Site, where the first Nuclear bomb was tested.

At its peak it is 8,990 Feet. Literally 10 miles from the north side to the south. You can drive from the front to the back in 10-15 minutes easy.

rockaria 01-31-2022 07:13 AM

Here is a map to get a better idea of how small.

Yeah, I've had a think about her a few times too.

Sad to see her looking like that.

Same here. To say that "she has changed" doesn't come close to describing the extent.
