I don’t know if it’s well balanced, but I like this. Too bad if Porsche made it, it would be overpriced like everything else they make now.

First of all, there is representational and non-representational art. Though Picasso did some abstract work, most of his art is representational. When you look at it you recognize what it is. Even though it’s distorted and misconnected, you know what it is and what it is representing. Abstract art, OTOH is nonrepresentational. It is not recognizable as anything real or tangible. It’s an idea, an emotion an abstraction.

Picasso’s weird portraits and faces, with both eyes on the same side of the head or sideways and even upside down are still recognizable as eyes. But why so weird. One of the many, many ideas Picasso brought to us was showing something with many dimensions while using only two. Those weird eyes are a way to see something from two perspectives rather than one.

This-Painter and Model, 1970-is clearly representational. You know what you’re looking at. Especially dead center. But with the painter’s dark hair, eyes and nose you know what he’s thinking. This is not abstract art:

2 things
1) I actually kind of get that image, at least, much more than a lot of his stuff.
2) "with the painter’s dark hair, eyes and nose you know what he’s thinking" Nope, not a clue.

I haven't studied his work that much, but based on the stuff that I've seen, it seems like the level of distortion in his work increased over time.

I believe this is a progression over time of his self portrait.

I can get behind this one.
https://www.z-pracowni.pl/83148-larg...-120x180cm.jpg

But then some others...

https://images.masterworksfineart.co...for-sale-2.jpg

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...1000_QL80_.jpg

But, that's OK. Not everyone will get EVERY piece of art. Art is, like so many things, subjective. Not every man is going to have the same opinion about the physical attributes of every woman (not art, but similar vibe). Not every person is going to have their emotions tickled by the same piece of music, sculpture, painting, etc.... If we all liked the same stuff, this place would be boring.

GH85Carrera 12-01-2025 12:46 PM

I have never dropped acid, so the vast majority of his "art" is just garbage, worth mega bucks because several art critics deems it so.

I would hang Elvis, dressed as a matador, fighting a bull, painted on black velvet before I hung a Picasso in my house like that last one above.

Visitors at Providence Alaska Medical Center got a wild surprise this week when a young moose casually stepped through the hospital’s automatic doors, chewed on lobby plants, and then wandered back outside as if nothing unusual had happened.
Security footage shows the moose strolling into the entrance area, pausing to sample the decorative greenery, and calmly exiting moments later. No staff or patients were injured, and the animal showed no signs of distress.
Wildlife officials say moose encounters like this are becoming more common in Anchorage, where urban areas blend closely with natural habitat.
Hospital staff jokingly said the moose “came for a salad and left a review.”

IIRC, there were boats in the bay/cove (which has a narrow mouth) that were carried on the resulting wave out of the bay over the fingers that separated the bay/cove from the ocean.

The lighter areas of the shore are where trees and soil were washed away by the wave.

2-6, 12, and 14? WTF? I don't think I've ever heard those. When we lived in Japan, I'd walk to the bus stop in the winter with hair so wet that by the time I got to the bus stop it would be frozen, and that did not give me a cold (or make my head cold).

I looked up Lituya Bay...seen here in the middle.

One of my friends worked as an investigator for a large company. One employee was out on workers comp from a back injury and claimed he had to walk with crutches. They filmed him water skiing at a local lake, and building a stockade fence at his house. His claim was denied in court, and he was fired.
