Road Trip Tool for Europe?

Hi!

In the USA I rely on InRoute and RoadTripper to plan my trips.

Is there anything similar for Europe?

! Juan

InRoute update includes Europe!

I accept suggestions!

Switzerland, France, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy.

On the trip St. Bernardino and Stelvio Passes are already included!

Check with ADAC in Germany. Its like AAA. I had membership when I lived there. Great service when your car breaks down.

That sounds like an incredible trip! I actually have a trip planned in France with https://gowithguide.com/france and am looking forward to exploring some of the scenic routes. Did you have any favorite sections in France that stood out on your drive?

I did a road trip last year that was roughly Bologna -> San Martino -> Spello -> Naples -> Lecce -> Somewhere up the coast -> Bologna.

My wife planned an itinerary that included hiking every day and avoiding crowds and tourist spots. I asked ChatGPT for an itinerary and got virtually the same route as Mrs. LWJ.

My point? AI is a great planning tool.

Have fun!

I've driven extensively in all those places. I just use Google Maps. Germany is the only one of those countries without hwy tolls, so prepare for that. Italy and France have toll booths. The rest require a toll decal for X number of days.

Suggestions...

Switzerland. I enjoyed a trip up through the Eiger mountain (Interlaken area.) You might buy a watch in one of the big cities, probably Zurich. Otherwise, not much to suggest.

Austria, been a couple times, nothing there for me. Austrian cops are pricks.

Germany, Stuttgart is a must. Porsche Museum, Mercedes if you are inclined. A couple of Ludvig's castles in Bavaria are interesting. Autobahn during the day has too many trucks and eastern Euros in Skodas and the like. At night is better, unless it rains. Wouldn't do the Autobahn at night in the rain.

France, food capitol is Lyon. Southern coast is nice. Paris has nice art museums and good restaurants.

Italy, continue along the southern coast through the Amalfi area. Skip Venice, hit Rome if you are a pasta nut, visit Ferrari and Lamborghini in the area around Sant' Agata and Modena. Lake Como area is spectacular.

Czech Republic, never been there but I hear Prague is nice.

Some friends have come back from Croatia. They loved it. The girls said it was cheap and very beautiful. Haha most days they just went to the beaches then eating and boozing in the evenings - not much of an educational but fun. Could be worth looking into if you are going to Italy.

I've been everywhere in CZ except for Karlovy Vary. CZ is absolutely awesome, cheap and there is no better beer anywhere.

And be aware of speed cameras. Obey the law. Can get expensive

Don’t overthink this. Apple Maps or Google Maps work just fine.

Mind your manners over there and drive like you own it.
