Interesting. I never thought of that, having never had the opportunity to hunt driven birds. I guess they would be coming at you, rather than flushing away from you.

My first car was a Firebird. Never had a Thunderbird or a Superbird.

Pretty common in Great Britain. The landed gentry release their pen reared birds on the far side of the estate and line up shoulder to shoulder waiting for them. Possibly enjoying a spot of tea while they wait. The peasants are then sent out with washtubs and sticks, and various other noisemakers, to "drive" the birds over to the gunners. The birds all fly over in a big wave, with our erstwhile "sportsmen" shooting furiously for a few moments. When the excitement is over, they all pat one another on the back, congratulating themselves for their fine shooting. Returning to their tea and crumpets, another truckload of pen raised birds is driven out to the far side of the estate, the peasants walk back over, and drive the next lot to the shooters. Wash, rinse, repeat. It's not uncommon for guests to shoot, collectively, thousands of birds a day at these "hunts".
