There are many competitive ebikes in this new niche- Light, inexpensive, nimble.
$1000 gets you a bare-bones bike, be aware of the compromises.

^^^ After reading the reviews that you posted...I am really looking forward to the delivery of my 4.0 7 speed Propella. It appears to be exactly what I want. Thanks.

Interesting. Especially the suspension comment. I would expect the electric to have a better ratio of sprung vs unsprung weight ... but maybe not.

I've rethought the whole thing... Here's a clue. ;)

What a timely thread. We are going to buy a Ride1up 700 this Saturday https://electrek.co/2019/11/07/ride1up-700-series-electric-bicycle/

This is not for me (yeah right?) as my younger boy, 13, is a bit lazy unlike his older brother that will grind up everything as much as he possible can. Hope he will come and keep up with us on this thing. It has pedal assist or just press of a button and go. I might end up riding this to work. Sounds like fun. Looking forward to this. Oh, the best is the pricing, 1350.00.

One thing I am ready to do is to install a roller to they can rub their tires on it and would kill themselves. I am ready to motorpace at my hammer head ride. All I need is a larger chain ring and smaller gears.:D

I road bike racing, some riders train behind a motor bike call motor pacing whereas a rider draft behind the motorbike. Often, they get really close, within an 1" of the motorbike's rear wheel or another rider in front of them. To prevent overlapping wheels, they often install a roller (just like a pizza dough roller) right behind the rear wheel of the motorbike so the bicycle rider behind can get really close without overlapping the wheel causing a wreck. If they hit the roller with their front wheel, the roller just spins, causing no harm but a ever so slightly slow down to the rider drafting.

This. I used to do this on the street with my 80Cc moped with about 30 guys riding after me hauling ass down the quiet city streets. That was until the local police stopped me. We did stupid siht just to get some hard training in befor the summer racing starts

rattlsnak 10-09-2020 06:03 PM

what the heck? what is the purpose of the motorbike? i have never seen anything like that?

That's to break the wind, bring up the speed. At times, there are 20 people riding behind the motorbike fighting, elbowing each other jockeying for position hauling ass at 30 miles an hour on a bike without brakes.

A track racing cyclist need speed to develop a certain strength for a certain race. Motor pacing is one of the few ways to get one's heart rate and spin up. In racing, the two must communicate and the pacer can't go too fast to burn their rider out. Its interesting.

Great.
I read the criticism, but none seems relevant if you just want a nice lightweight e bike , not a mini motorcycle.

I wonder what '4th generation re-engineered battery pack with improvements in mechanical design'
means?

They just keep tweaking it a bit.
The difference between 3.0 and 3.2 was a different tire brand.
We’ll have to wait for a review to really know, but they aren’t resting on their laurels.

Great looking bike. Do you ever get any grief from other riders? (non E bike Mtn bikers)
