haha. i think if space aliens travel across the vast darkness of space, and lands on EARTH. my 9mm will be much too feeble against them. hell, i bet they have forcefields! and huge spaceships that can only be destroyed by flying a fighter jet into their huge underbelly lazer right when they are powering up to shoot!! but first we will need to develop a virus that disables their forcefield!! you can however punch them out if you can get one to open up their spaceship hatch.

Last Christmas I paid about $0.15 a round for 9mm. That is in the drawer pricing.

Better check on lead and primer availability if you don't already have it.

Some of my stock is still 9mm WWB FMJ from Walmart, $5 for 50 rounds.

Cost of ammo............

Some stores are into the "gouge" mode but some are not. My LGS currently has 115 gr 9mm FMJ ammo for $22 per box of 50. Personal defense hollow point ammo is in the low $30 range. The last .22LR ammo I bought was CCI high velocity at about $8 per 100. Maybe availability will improve shortly.

Well, it's not gouge mode if you can't get restock and need to keep product on the shelves. It's worse for the stores that also have ranges, as those aren't cheap to keep running and require lots of ammo. The bills keep coming, even if you can't supply ammo to your range members.

I think when Walmart stopped stocking hand-spoon ammo, that made it much more of a pain in the rear to get.

The folks that are hoarding/buying large quantities of ammo now are the same folks that sell all of their equities after the market has taken a big hit and then wait for the market to go back up to the level it was to buy back in.

A few LGS folks I know say they have to stash 9 mm so that when they sell a pistol they have some ammo to offer the new owner. There is going to be a ton of unused ammo and very low mileage guns coming some time in the future. I look forward to that day. Until then, do a lot of practice with the G44 to keep sharp for the G19.

A store here will only sell ammo to a person buying a new pistol and then only two boxes. Pretty crazy out there.

Even Sierra Bullets in Sedalia, Missouri is "out of stock" in 9mm bullets for reloading. And Sierra makes tons of bullets. Even rifle bullets for reloading is getting harder to find. Brass, primers and powder are a similar story.

Sierra does have "factory seconds" which may have a blemish of some kind, but totally usable and sold per pound. But you have to pick-up the factory seconds in person. No shipping.

https://www.sierrabullets.com/

Graf and Sons Reloading has the same issues. They do have some powders in stock, but no primers and no brass. At least for the 9mm.
https://www.grafs.com/

So, with COVID and the uncertainty of politics and riots around the country, everyone if stocking up with ammo and reloading supplies.

Get in line.

OK. you are a different customer for the product than most. Like a guy really into autocrossing and having three sets of wheels and racing tires and street tires, different market than most.

I go shooting once per year and use a 100 to 150 rounds and I am done. I feel totally capible enough to use my gun in a safe and competent manner in home defense.

And a guy with an Apple laptop can write a virus that destroys their computer systems running on a alien hardware computer and alien software, and upload it via WI-FI and they don't use a password for the WI-FI.

.40 was on its way out of style just before this latest panic started. I got out of it, though, in hindsight, maybe I should have stayed in. I kept finding more and more of it in my house and happened to run into a guy who was getting out of .45 and into .40. So we traded about 1500 rounds each and some cash. I still have the .40 barrel for my SIG P226, but I consider it to be a mainly .357SIG gun.

When 40 S&W costs as much or more than .223, something is wrong.
