My first good car was a 1970 Volvo 140 Wagon - the B-20B engine w/stromberg carbs was pretty near indestructible. Drove it from 70K to 250K miles before it backfired through the carbs and burned up.

Have owned three Saabs - 1995 900S, 1996 900 Turbo, and 2005 9-3t. Yes...a few quirks, but basically all great cars. Too bad the company went Kaput!

Oh...and my son owned a 2009 Saab for a bit. He's a computer/robotics engineer, and had no problems remapping it to do 375HP/350FT.LBS, with no issues whatever.

As a Junior in H.S. I got to test drive a '78 Saab 99 turbo, absolutely fell in love with it but at $8.5K far too rich for me. A year or two later the 900 turbo came out and my Dad almost bought one. Almost

Now 40 or so years later I still pine for a 99/900 turbo. Here is a '78 that sold a couple years ago on BAT - I was not the buyer there either

I would put a Saab 900 SPG on my high school dream car list.

You’re missing a great year for lake ice. Not much snow and forecast is for negative (F) temps soon.

My first job out of high school was working at a local MBZ/exotic/luxury dealer. I would swap inventory between dealers up and down the California coast and also deliver new cars to customers.

Best job a 19 year old could hope to have. Lots of BMW, MBZ, Jag, Lotus. When we delivered a new car, There would be a chase car, a brand new Saab 900 Turbo. Fell in love with that car. It just did everything so well. I liked driving that way more than a new S500.

I've had five wagons, 740, 850, 760V8 conversion, V70, and V70R M66.

They were all great driving cars and very reliable.

Another he he he for Brutus Mcfairy wtf . Never got into Saabs, but have worked on a few of them , what a weird setup for the clutch and trans. The transmission is the oil pan.
I liked that you could swap the clutch without removing the trans. I remember fabbing up a tool to do it .

Interesting stereotype in the original post - All the SAAB or Volvo owners I know are used to working on their cars...

This is a Porsche forum, let’s be real. We are all used to either working on our cars or paying somebody else to work on them.

I drove a Saab 900 Aero a few times and I was very impressed. As a wagon lover the Volvo wagons get an automatic place into the wagon list and the few Saab wagons I've seen look good as well. A shame that Volvos are no longer what they used to be. The original Polestars were always an amazing read in Road and Track.
