Brussels sprouts are great if cooked right.
My stepmother is Australian. She would find Vegemite somewhere in SoCal and always put it on toast, sandwiches, etc.. That stuff is NASTY. Its like mold filtered through a sumo wrestler's diaper.

Tuna and most fish literally make me want to vomit. It will make my stomach start to retch, dry heave.
One of the worst textures was a dessert from Gujarat India. It was paneer wrapped in a cilantro leaf dripped in a sugar syrup. It tasted like sugary detergent with a consistency of lard mixed with sawdust. I am one of those people that cilantro tastes like detergent.

I'm a very picky eater in terms of veggies and what not.
But I'll eat pretty much anything if i don't have to chew on it. whole, stewed or cooked Carrots used to make me gag, as an adult I can put myself over it, but i Just don't like biting and chewing carrots.. When I cook, I'll use carrots for loads of dishes.. I slice em and dice em and if they are small enough, no biggie, I even grow my own carrots in the garden. Same with onions, cauliflower whatever. needs to be chopped small enough or i'm not touching it. And everything is great once it's in a soup, and the soup has been blended properly. This all boils down to having been left to my vices as a kid, with parents that didn't do anything right. And ran a snack bar... Basically I grew up in the Belgian equivalent of a McDonalds. Brussels Sprouts is just rank on all levels.. Smell, taste, texture, Eff that chiiiit.

Arugula lettuce. Went to a snoot snoot restaurant up in L.A. for lunch. I ordered something that had arugula on it and I took one bite and asked for the desert menu. And more wine. I couldn't erase that taste no matter what.
It literally ruined my day. And I eat salad at least once a day. All kinds. |

Vegemite tastes like truffles compared to Brussels sprouts. Only way to cook them to be palatable would be to throw them in a volcano.

Those that hate brussel sprouts, when did you last have them? From what I've heard, they've been genetically modifying them to be less bitter, even I can actually eat a few (especially grilled or broiled) these days, when I couldn't even get near a plate of them (usually poached or boiled...) back in the day.
For me? Pineapple. I had two really bad incidents with pineapple as a child (maybe allergic?) and it's prevented me from voluntarily eating it ever since. The smell does it for me now. Also, oysters and sushi. I LOVE raw oysters, sashimi, sushi, whatever, as long as it's quick and easy and tasty. Once you get into the crappy oysters that require chewing, or sushi that is just a bit too larger for one mouthful, then things go bad quickly. In this case, it's the mouthfeel.
