Not nuts at all! First time wagon owner here - 2019 VW Golf wagon with a manual trans. Lots of room like an SUV but handles like a sedan. Extremely practical and fun to drive.

Good choice Paul, I'm planning the exact same thing for my similar aged Toyota 4Runner
I dream of converting it to a capable overland rig but with a luxurious interior to explore the world in comfort I have simple needs so my dream collection, is a back to the 80's selection, Porsche 930 Gen Toyota 4Runner Mercedes W126 500SEL Peugeot 205 GTi One car can't do it all so something for every occasion, 4x4, sports car, luxury and hot hatch

I'm mulling over the possibility of selling my '69 some time and replacing it with my secondary dream car - an Intermeccanica convertable D. I know I'll never be able to get my first choice dream car.

Wow great question and got me thinking. I have owned and driven some really cool cars in my young 5 decades roaming around the planet.
Learned to drive on a 67 Pontiac convertible, learned to drive stick on a 47 Cadillac (both still in the family). After that have driven and/or owned: Rx-7 gen 1 and gen 3, Isuzu Impulse (the Giugiaro Ital Design version), various Mazda, Nissan, Lexus and Cadi products, Audi R8, eTron and TTRS, 911s (1965, 66,67S,68S,69S,72,73RS,78SC,86,94 Turbo,97S (x2)), 2006 GT3Cup, 2008 GT3Cup Grand Am, 2011 GT3R, 2019 GT3R, TVR Tuscan S, Ruf Yellow Bird, Aventador S, …. I own or drive some of my dream cars already but what would complete the garage would be: - 918 - Koenigsegg Agera RS - 550 Spyder - Stratos - BMW 507 - Aventador SV

If you shook me awake from a deep sleep and yelled, "Quick, I'll get you any car you want... you've got 5 seconds to tell me what it is... go!" the long time favorite that has been living rent-free in my head for decades is the 250 GTO...
![]() But if you let me wake up in civilized fashion and think about it during a coupla cups of coffee, my choice would be much more sensible... something I would enjoy just as much, wouldn't worry about driving anywhere, and that my indie mechanic is very familiar with... I'd even let him borrow it for a weekend once in awhile...

Btw, i'm flagging all of y'alls traitors, who listed anything not Porsche,
or at the very least very close to Porsche (AutoUnion, og beetle, Merc with Porsche factory work, Piech, Dauer,RuF). If with all the money in the world you pick something not Porsche, y'alls need Jezus. Ffs, you could have a 917 if ya wanted to.. But then ya pick a bimmer or ferrari or dodges??? if you really can't pick, don't go full retard.. go 917. Moderators.. EMBARGO ON

I would settle for one of these as well. With or without the plow.

Money is no object, why do I have to pick just one?

because it's hypothetical money, and your can spend it to fill a hypothetical garage that only has room for one car.
![]() Unless you want to buy 3 smart cars or whatever tiny econochitbox you can fit.. but really nobody hypothetically cares at that point

Would love one. Last time I saw a real one was in 1950, I think. It wasn't pretty, was well used and had a bear strapped to the hood. Some guys had gone hunting, shot a bear, and strapped it down to the hood - I guess to show it off instead of putting it in the bed.
