Lets do the simple math here I'm pretty sure the 4 is more money then the 3?
"usually" they want to sell you the more expensive car. No?
I think you'll shake hands on this pretty quick

Ok, I had some downtime today due to two no-show appts and was near Scottsdale. So I swung by the dealer. I'm sure the salesguy was a little nervous to see me. I just said, "I was in the neighborhood, so let's get this 430i out of my head right here and now." He chuckled and we went to find the car. It's a looker, to be sure. But I didn't know it wasn't a CPO. So it has 38k more miles left on the original factory warranty and I'd have to spring for an aftermarket warranty thereafter. It doesn't have tinted windows, so I'd have to spring for that too. He didn't try to get me to buy it at all. If he had tried to really sweeten the deal, maybe I could have been swayed. But I'll be fine with what I got. My 320i won't be ready for pickup until Friday now, so maybe fate will intervene and something else will pop up. But otherwise I'm fine with what I got.

All’s well that ends well. The 430 is a sweet car but I’ve driven the 320 frequently as a loaner and it’s a real gem too. You’ll be happy with it for years.

You need an extended warranty on one of these?

The opposite happened to me.

When I bought my WRX, the salesman accidentally sold me a higher model than I paid for. It was already in my name, I had it insured, the Bluetooth was set for my phone, my luggage was in the car. The finance guy noticed the mistake.

At this point, I could have walked, taken the car (what could they actually do?), I noticed the mistake as soon as I saw the car.

In the end, I made them make it up to me in terms of the extra 2 hours of time wasted as they scrambled to get the right car ready.

It was funny as I had my then 8 year old son with me. The sales manager said, ‘how do we make this right?’ Without hesitation, my son said, ‘We want hats!’...

In the end it all worked out. My point is that people make mistakes and if they don’t work with you to get the car you want, you can walk away.

Well, these guys didn't make any mistake (yet). I don't walk into a car dealership expecting sleezy tactics and lies. I've seen it, but I've generally had good experiences because I'm pretty upfront about what I want and my level of readiness to buy then and there. I have no complaints about this car buying experience. I'm the only one in the deal who's been waffling, which is rare for me. And the salesguy didn't give me any pushback for it.

Yesterday I probably drove close to 200 miles and kept my eyes peeled for some late model 3 series and 4 series sedans. These normally grow on trees. But I think I saw about four all day.

Wow, that is low mileage for a 14 y.o. car. Garage queen, I guess? Looks mint. +++

It's a brute. Small block normally aspirated 427. What's not to like? I had an '08 back in the day.

Back in the early 90s I bought a Nissan new. I ordered the new 1800 model( standard was 1500). When it was ready I collected it and drive it the 50 miles home, thinking this thing is gutless, hope it loosens up over time. Arrived home, got out the handbook to learn where everything was, and first thing I noticed was the dipstick wasn't in the place shown for the 1800. Checked the tyre size, oh they were the smaller ones for the 1500. There was no badge on the back mentioning engine size by the way.It was too late at night by then to ring the dealership , so I had a sleepless night worrying about how to resolve this in the morning. They said, without any apology, being it back straight away, so I returned it with 100 miles on the clock and they gave me a loaner from their used car fleet and said they would have the correct car in 2 weeks. I then proceeded to put 3500 miles on the loaner in that time visiting my most distant customers, until one morning I received a call telling, not asking, me to come right away to pick up my new car. I said that I was in a meeting and I would get there that afternoon. An hour later another insistent call from the dealer which I was dismissive of.After my meeting I skipped lunch and drove to pick up my new car. The wrongly supplied car was in the showroom, clock wound back to zero, number plates removed, and being sold as new. They went ape sh...t to me about the miles out on the loaner, as they had sold it and the customer had been there waiting for it for a couple of hours.I told them very loudly to wind back the clock like they had done to the wrongly supplied car. Anyway I got my 1800, and it performed faultlessly for the 100,000 miles I put on it in the 3 years that I had it .

I just bought an Audi Q3, over the phone, in 20 minutes.

Over the years, I haven't had any negative experiences with sales reps.
