By a new Rolex and a new Cadillac the same day. Then try to sell each 6 days, 6 months or 6 years later. There isn't that much in common.

Well, I really thought the porn broker smuggled the Rolex up his ass. So color me disappointed.

I don't know if there is enough bleach in the world for me to wear a watch like that.

I love my GMT II. Just like my 911. I mean, I could drive a Kia and go faster, get better gas mileage, better climate control etc. But I'd still be driving a Kia.

And since I travel a lot plus have kids in different time zones, the GMT function is very useful!

Thomas Magnum ("Magnum, PI") wore a red/ blue dial GMT. As a kid, it made me really want and aspire to one day own one. As a college undergrad, I saw a classmate wearing one and it stuck with me and made me admire Rolex even more. My buddy's dad wore a Sub. All of these images stuck with me, and came back when I decided to go look at Rolexes. I think the GMT is a beautiful watch, great concept, and super practical. I "get" the tool watch thing so I don't think they are pretentious. Maybe some Nouveau Riche take the "tool" part too much to heart but I digress...

I could not get around the unidrectional bezel of the GMT. I decided to go with a Sub. It's been posted here already so I won't put a picture up.

But my GF...hmm. I did get her a Rolex that she chose with a Jubilee bracelet, etc. It has a custom face etc. But being a Millenial, she lacks the patience to wear an automatic watch. She loves her Apple watch. Being a fitness fanatic, she likes the apps. I think the next generation probably won't wear watches at all, and will definitely not look at any kind of watch as luxury. In fact, they are probably going to be into things like less property rights, less individual accomplishment and reward, and more into things like collective socialist risk reduction and loss of freedom.

Isn't your Sub bezel unidirectional?

^ Yes, Sir. That's one of the reasons I went with the Sub instead of the GMT.

I think it's the right choice for me.

It all depends on the type of crystal on your watch. My old 5513 is bidirectional. The newer combi Sub has the sapphire crystal thus unidirectional.

Matt Farah is the idiot who claims that the valve seats and seals need to be replaced on Porsche air-cooled motors "every 100,000 miles". He's a bloviating airbag. A tool.

Couldn't agree more...yet he seems to make good money being so.

Magnum was my favorite show as a kid. i still watch the DVDs

anyway, i bought an apple watch. tried it a dozen times and tossed in my junk drawer never to be used again. i don’t like wearing the same thing on my body that everyone else has and well , the thing was uncomfortable and annoying

when i leave the house, i wear my Tudor Black Bay 36

As for rolex, if i could have any of them it would be the Milgauss. absolutely love it but i could do a lot with $8,500

The only Rolex I would ever consider buying.

I swear Rolex is just like Chanel: price increases every 6 months.

Funny, I was the same way with my Apple Watch....but gradually got used to it...and gradually started to appreciate being able to control music choice in the house or boat...from my wrist, including the volume. Stock market status and weather with a glance at my wrist...heart rate while out for a walk or EKG when I feel a PVC or two. It’s become my “go to” as a result while about 6 perfectly good mechanical watches spend their lives in my dresser drawer.

it was all those things that i didnt like. i kept looking for reasons to look at my wrist and started to feel like my brain was being held captive by yet another device. i can see why people like them though
