First time this season for a good sunning. Pics taken this afternoon.

Ah, the sun. The sun. Now time for a really good feed.
|
^^^ In the second pic...I had freeze-dried shrimp (their fav) in my hand to feed them. After the long winter of no food..they don't know what to do. They just looked at it.
They'll start eating in the next few days. :) |

It would be great if the sun and warm temps continue....but April in MI says otherwise.
I'm hoping it remains. |

Looks sunny with a light breeze, one was on the ramp, moving his head about, looked like he was thinking of diving off the high end  |

And who's the cute topless lady wandering around - really nice. |
^^^ lol...where..where?
The one on the ramp is smart...he knows it's warmer there than in the water. I have a thermometer in one end and it was 55 F in the water, the last time I checked. |

The turtles always appreciate an audience. SmileWavy |
Good to see our turtles again, Steve! Thanks for putting up the thread and cam link! ;)
|
Don't forget to flip the over so their tummies get some sun.
|
Cool feed, good daylight background pics whilst cooking or reading.
Excuse my former west coast ignorance....what happens in the winter when the pond freezes over? |
^^^ They were just placed in the pond two days ago. They were in their winter home...in a stock tank since late November in my garage. They semi-hibernate during that time.
I drain the pond down for the winter and re-filled it a few days ago. |
Ah...figured that with their size and your location there was some input. Good on ya....
|
There are four turtles...two females.
Two fish that I bought at a Walmart that were 2" long....now they are over a foot long. The biggest turtle is over a foot in diameter. All slider turtles. (red eared and map) |
This is something I would love to do so much. Not gonna happen in this lifetime. It's great to have a turtle feed to fill the void.
|
It's on 24/7....it's always 'Live'
Check it out at 3am....might see a raccoon on the edge watching for a fish! The turtles hardly ever show before noon...the sun doesn't hit the pond until then. It's never off-line...unless I'm doing maintenance on the filters. (which is only 5 min/week) |
No Raptors in the 'hood?
