Ah, the sun. The sun. Now time for a really good feed.

stevej37 04-04-2021 01:28 PM

^^^ In the second pic...I had freeze-dried shrimp (their fav) in my hand to feed them. After the long winter of no food..they don't know what to do. They just looked at it.
They'll start eating in the next few days. :)

Here is a link to a live feed from my pond.

Cripes. Now I'll never get anything done.

It would be great if the sun and warm temps continue....but April in MI says otherwise.
I'm hoping it remains.

Just checked in on them

Looks sunny with a light breeze, one was on the ramp, moving his head about, looked like he was thinking of diving off the high end

Nice to see no wind.

And who's the cute topless lady wandering around - really nice.

stevej37 04-04-2021 03:54 PM

^^^ lol...where..where?
The one on the ramp is smart...he knows it's warmer there than in the water.
I have a thermometer in one end and it was 55 F in the water, the last time I checked.

The turtles always appreciate an audience. SmileWavy

Good to see our turtles again, Steve! Thanks for putting up the thread and cam link! ;)

Don't forget to flip the over so their tummies get some sun.

Joe Bob 04-04-2021 05:37 PM

Cool feed, good daylight background pics whilst cooking or reading.

Excuse my former west coast ignorance....what happens in the winter when the pond freezes over?

stevej37 04-04-2021 05:42 PM

^^^ They were just placed in the pond two days ago. They were in their winter home...in a stock tank since late November in my garage. They semi-hibernate during that time.
I drain the pond down for the winter and re-filled it a few days ago.

Joe Bob 04-04-2021 05:45 PM

Ah...figured that with their size and your location there was some input. Good on ya....

stevej37 04-04-2021 05:51 PM

There are four turtles...two females.
Two fish that I bought at a Walmart that were 2" long....now they are over a foot long.
The biggest turtle is over a foot in diameter.
All slider turtles. (red eared and map)

wdfifteen 04-04-2021 05:56 PM

This is something I would love to do so much. Not gonna happen in this lifetime. It's great to have a turtle feed to fill the void.

stevej37 04-04-2021 06:06 PM

It's on 24/7....it's always 'Live'
Check it out at 3am....might see a raccoon on the edge watching for a fish!
The turtles hardly ever show before noon...the sun doesn't hit the pond until then.

It's never off-line...unless I'm doing maintenance on the filters. (which is only 5 min/week)

Joe Bob 04-04-2021 06:09 PM

No Raptors in the 'hood?
