That is exactly what Jack said..."I see it now, I'm not just reacting..."

After he lost his left eye and his Army ROTC slot, he needed an outlet, something to fill the void of competition. He found these folks in Macon, Ga. when he was in law school.

Well, the crumb got arrested Sunday night after punching an elderly Korean couple. This time the park was busy and people surrounded the guy until police got there. Arrested for elder abuse, committing a hate crime against the elderly couple, and what he did to the Olympic athlete.

Outstanding. It's kind of a shame the crowd didn't include 3-4 Somoan brothers.

One of the guys I used to work with was nicknamed Tiny, and of course he was huge. 6'6" and raised on a farm with hard physical labor. He was just crazy strong. Like most big guys, he was not a fighter, he just wanted to be one of the guys.

He said the only folks that ever gave him problems were the little guys that wanted to take down the big guy. He was very slow to get mad. We were at a restaurant-bar having dinner and beer and some little punk decided he wanted to fight. When the little guy sucker punched him, he just grabbed the little punk, the the little guy landed a few kicks and punches. He just threw the little guy against a wall and it was over.

The police came, and we all were witnesses. The little guy left in handcuffs, and we finished a few more beers.

It was a 10 second fight. Very clear winner. Size absolutely matters.

It does and probably also doesn't. There are probably times when a smaller person can take down a bigger person due to training, strength, luck, etc.... Also, as the size discrepancy decreases, ie a guy 5'11" vs a guy 6'2" and maybe 20-30# difference, it's probably not nearly as big a factor as a guy 6'6" vs 5'9" with a 100+# difference.

And I have no doubt that there are guys that talk big, but have nothing to back it up, that would probably be thoroughly trashed by a smaller person that can fight and has a lot of experience fighting.

Someone posted a link to some ultimate street fighting championship that was televised and in a ring. Several professional fighters were ready to brawl for the money. One guy showed up that was a large and very overweight car salesman not a fighter. He had a simple technique, grab hold, fall down on the opponent, and keep punching until they tap out. They had no chance of pushing the 350 pound guy off of them, and they were stuck. He just kept punching them in the face until they said stop. He won the money and went back to his car lot.

Best "fight" I ever read about was a guy training for the marathon...he running along a road. 3 bullies in a car pulled over in front of him, stopped the car, bailed out. He just started running across a farmer's field...they ran out of gas in the first few hundred yards. He gave 'em the finger as he pulled away..

The elephant won!
Masraum , you're right , the little guy is victorious occasionally. I witnessed an episode right out of the movies once. A few of us guys went out drinking one night in the 70s and ended up at the Silver Peso in Larkspur. A bucket of blood back then. One of our group was a big guy, bad ass who shouldn't drink. He started harassing this small dude who was minding his own business sitting alone at the bar. He was in uniform that had an Army Ranger patch. We told Mike to leave the guy alone but he was liquored up and determined to start something. He out weighed the guy by 100 lb.s. The little Ranger was very patient to the point of when it was obvious that this a-hole wasn't going away. In a split second he had big Mike on the floor face down twisting his arm while holding his foot on Mike's neck. Mike tapped out and he turned him loose. I bought the little guy a drink.

Army Rangers obviously are taught hand to hand combat. And the are physically very well conditioned. Even a "little" ranger is not to be messed with unless you are a bigger trained fighter.

One buddy forwarded me a video of a match-up of different fighting techniques. All top of the game from different fighting methods. No weapons allowed of course, just hands and feet. The boxer was taking the opponents apart.

The funniest one was some "master" that all his students would fall down when opposing him with a wave of his fingers. Some street fighter had never had the lessons on how to fall down when the master waves his fingers. The fighter stood there letting the master wave his fingers and of course there is no magic energy to conquer an enemy. They finally said OK fight and the fighter knocked down the master in seconds.

From what I hear Kung Fu is to a Chinese audience what superheros are to Americans. Hence Kung Fu Panda movies and the endless Kung Fu movies. Jackie Chan has some funny movies, and some great moves. It is all just movie magic.
