Today I received 2 small packs of razor blades, 10 Bic Chrome Platinum and 10 Kai. I realized that the Kai are made by the same Japanese company that makes Shun and Kershaw knives among other cutting instruments.
I've got an assortment of blades arriving some time next week. The only downside is that it'll take months to test one of each since I'll likely get several shaves out of each blade. So far the RK blade that came with the Henson is doing a good job. I have no complaints. I haven't cut myself and I'm getting a close shave.

I shaved with the RK that came with the Henson. They worked OK. The next blade that I tried were the Kai (same Japanese co that makes Shun kitchen knives). The first shave, it felt like the blade wasn't in the razor. It turned out that it was so sharp that I couldn't tell that it was cutting. Wow! It's not as sharp now, so I can tell, but they are much better than the RK. I received my assortment today. It'll take me a while to work through all of them.
I wasn't really interested in the Astras, but they came with the assortment of mostly Gillettes that I did want. I'll give them a shot since I've got them. I have also read good things about the Feather High Stainless and the Gillette Permasharp. I have enough blades to last me quite a while now, so I'll worry about those later. My first RK blade, I was able to shave my face and head twice. So they didn't last long compared to my old cartridges, but then the cartridges had twice as many blades (4 vs 2). I assume the fact that the RK didn't seem to start out very sharp means there's a good chance that the Kai will last longer since they were SUPER sharp. ![]()
