My mother's first name was Hazel. She hated that name so she always went by her middle name.

One of the guys I work with came back after taking a few days off when his Wife gave birth to their son. One of the guys asked what they named the new boy. He said "Ulysses".

One of the other guys says "Why didn't you just name him 'kick my ass on the playground'"

My mother’s first name was Bertha, a name she absolutely detested. She also went by her second name (Lynn) her entire life. Her cousin wanted to name one of their daughters after my mom and my mom refused to tell him her real first name other than that it started with the letter ‘B’. They named her ‘Bonny-Lynn’.

Apparently my grandparents had some relation named Bertha who my mom was named after...

i have a ridiculously ethnic name. it is what swedish hillbillies call their kids.

my whole life hs been awkward introductions and confusion from people trying to deal with it. i've had misspelled checks and ID because it is apparently so confusing.

My parents were named Francis and Josephine. Mom went by Jo.

Introduction went like this.

"This is Francis and Jo."
"Nice to meet you, Joe!"
"No, I'm Francis. "

Love my name. It's memorable.
And I'm the only person in the world with it.

I know a guy. He and his wife have 8 or 9 kids. The wife's first name starts with a J. All of the kids have first names that start with J.

I'm named after my 2 grandfathers, but I go by my middle name. My first and middle names are both books in the bible. It was always a pain in school having to correct teachers to not call me by my first name.

Indian people tend to call me Mr Dog-less. I'm fine with that but it isn't technically correct as I have two dogs.

My wife's maiden name is "Pacas" - they pronounced it as "putzsus".

She considered Johnson to be an upgrade but kept Pacas as a middle name to link to journal articles and the like.

First time "Johnson" has been an upgrade. It's kind of the white-bread of surnames...

"Theodore is a masculine given name. It comes from the Ancient Greek name Θεόδωρος (Theódoros) meaning "God-given" (from the Ancient Greek words θεός, (theós) "God" and δῶρον (dṓron) "gift")

When I was single 40 yrs ago, the "gift from God" was a great pick up line.

I'm a gift from God that is 6'2" with eyes of Blue, Blink, blink

I wish I had gotten married and had children, I would have changed my last name to my grandfather's on my mom's side. My mom is the end of the line for him. And he was a great man. Get sad about it sometimes.
