I was afraid I wasnt going to find one of those 906 haulers but I found one when they first came out. Now they are everywhere warming the shelves. Pairing it with the boring truck was a bad move. Cost too much to get the car. Id buy more if they were a normal premium.

25 years ago, I was a serious 1/43 collector - 90% were Minichamps. I had over 1500 of them. I sold them all off many years ago but recently decided to start a small collection. Until, that is, I saw the current pricing
$50 to $100 each! The level of detail has improved for sure, but still ... I kept looking at the options and eventually found a brand called OPO 10. I think they might be a Chinese manufacturer who contract to build for the name diecast companies but also sell models directly. Anyway, they are generally between $12 and $30 and the quality of the sportscars is quite nice - close to what Minichamps were 25 years ago. Their F1 cars are just "OK" with heavy-looking suspension pieces and body edges. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to what they offer but there are some really cool cars at very reasonable prices. This one even has Silk Cut cigarette livery which is normally verboten today.

This is the second time in 3 days I've had an image of the Silk Cut Jaguar XJR12 come across my screen. Beautiful car. Somewhere around my house is a framed poster of the same car. I'll have to dig it out and complete the trifecta.

Edit. The poster depicts the 8 cylinder variant. Details sometimes elude my brain!

2nd edit. Curt, I'm sorry you gave up your original collection! I'll bet you're struggling now thinking of it. I know I'd be.

Impressive detail for the price on these. I paid $19 shipped for the Jag. I've also got the OPO 10 956, Audi R10 TDI, 917, McLaren Tag-Turbo F1, and an Audi quattro rally car.

He must have finally realized that he could have bought a real car with all that money and space. Alot of collectors on u tube and such have much larger collections that that and often drive very boring cars. Lamley has a prius, champindjk has a pontiac vibe, I think wtffor has a lame car aswell. I think its odd.

Passed a milestone birthday and suddenly remembered he hadn't put anything away for retirement?

I'm not a Hot Wheels collector, but I'm guessing that unless he has some of the rare vintage stuff in there somewhere the bidding is not going to go a lot higher than where it's at .... a little over $1/each. Am I wrong?

Another of the inexpensive OPO 10 range arrived today. This one is particularly well done.

Curt, same company did a full scale replica of the steering wheel I designed
Could never afford to buy myself one, even when the price was about 20% of the cost of the real thing ![]()

That makes me think of the late '90s when I had been contemplating the purchase of a kit car 356, then realized I could buy a real 911 which needed less work, for less money.
We are an odd species. Best Les

That Hot Wheels collection sold for $19,911. A lot more than I guessed, but I don't know much about them. There must have been some rarities in there somewhere.
