I wonder what is up with the gas stations ? Have to jump through hoops the get a fill up.

^^^ It looked like it was her bike and his was ok. I think her plate/sticker identifies her as a tourist. Why that would make a difference for filling up....no idea.

Or maybe because it's over 13 years old.

Even previous stations he had to show an ID card to buy gas. I'd hate to do that here. I just want to pump and go.

^^^ I'd go wild trying as many different things as I could....except for that goat head soup.

Bing has been great for helping her....I thought he would drop off for another person to escort her. Maybe he is supposed to do the whole route across China.

They eat some nasty chit in China.

FWIW for better or worse, we don't know how good we have it... or not... They are all in on nose to tail consumption...probably from scarcity and frugality.

I havent been to China in about 12 years...Often id find myself in a rural village with my (Chinese) wife... me being the only white person.. I'd eat things offered.. or ordered while out with the understanding that sometimes its better that I not know what it is..

Having said that I have more memories of good delicious meals than not.

An amazing meal on the side of a rural road.. my wife and the hostess disappeared and went down to the fishpen they had... and picked out lunch..

I guess things have changed though... We never had issues or hoops to jump through to buy gas.. except in Beijing

Yes. When I was a kid I ate ham salad sandwitches that my sister left out on the counter too long. I puked for 2 days.

I can't say for sure if I ever got "food poisoning"..

Sometimes for a few days after I arrived in China...my BMs were not like when back home
