I had an old crown pop off earlier this month, which was actually a good thing..there was decay underneath.
Enough root was existing to fix the cavity without pulling the tooth, but the gum-line had to be cut a little lower. A new replacement crown had to be made to fit, which is probably typical. |
Sonnuva gun, I had a crown pop off this afternoon while eating ravioli of all things! Chewed on a piece, felt something hard and thought it was a piece of glass or plastic. Had visions of a huge settlement payout a'la the old "Rat in the Coca Cola bottle", wiggled my tongue back there and there was an empty space.
Looks like a dental appointment in my future. I think it's because i grind my teeth in my sleep, too much jaw pressure. Any Pelicans have that problem and sleep with a mouthguard? |
^^^ Just like chewing gum...pasta is sticky.
I did have a mouthguard about 20 years back. Dentist said stress was the cause. The thing really did help and a couple years later I eliminated the stress and threw the mouthpiece away. Been good ever since. |

I think I’m going to look into the mouth guard thing. My dentist mentioned it before but I didn’t think I could sleep with one in my mouth. I do tend to “work” a lot in my sleep.

Did you swallow? 😂
My wife wears a mouthguard. If she doesn’t, she sounds like a typewriter, with her teeth clicking. |

Speking of grinding. I fine myself grinding my teeth while I am sitting here or in the car whenever I have some free time on my hands. I use to chew tooth picks to keep myself busy. I swear if I smoked, I would have been a chain smoker. Thank goodness, I don't do any of that siht or drink. I have a beer 5-6 times a year and enjoy the heck out of it.
