I had an old crown pop off earlier this month, which was actually a good thing..there was decay underneath.

Enough root was existing to fix the cavity without pulling the tooth, but the gum-line had to be cut a little lower.

A new replacement crown had to be made to fit, which is probably typical.

Sonnuva gun, I had a crown pop off this afternoon while eating ravioli of all things! Chewed on a piece, felt something hard and thought it was a piece of glass or plastic. Had visions of a huge settlement payout a'la the old "Rat in the Coca Cola bottle", wiggled my tongue back there and there was an empty space.

Looks like a dental appointment in my future. I think it's because i grind my teeth in my sleep, too much jaw pressure. Any Pelicans have that problem and sleep with a mouthguard?

^^^ Just like chewing gum...pasta is sticky.
I did have a mouthguard about 20 years back. Dentist said stress was the cause. The thing really did help and a couple years later I eliminated the stress and threw the mouthpiece away. Been good ever since.

My teeth are grind flat like an old horse according to my dentist so I have been wearing the mouth guard for the past 4-5 years now. I chew through that too in a couple years. I don't think I am stressed but I must be? Sucked in the beginning but you get use to it within a couple weeks. Only thing is, dry mouth. I become a mouth breather at times with this guard.

I think I’m going to look into the mouth guard thing. My dentist mentioned it before but I didn’t think I could sleep with one in my mouth. I do tend to “work” a lot in my sleep.

Did you swallow? 😂

My wife wears a mouthguard. If she doesn’t, she sounds like a typewriter, with her teeth clicking.

Get one Craig and not the mouth guard from your local drug store or Big 5. You dentist has to make it and fit it to your teeth. I prefer the ones that goes up into my upper jaw, recommended by them. Its light years better then the ones that went on my lower. I have been grinding since my 20s so I must be one pissed off individual since then? I wanted to be able to eat when I turn 60 and we both laughed about it while I was sitting there getting drill so I finally broke down and pull the trigger.

Speking of grinding. I fine myself grinding my teeth while I am sitting here or in the car whenever I have some free time on my hands. I use to chew tooth picks to keep myself busy. I swear if I smoked, I would have been a chain smoker. Thank goodness, I don't do any of that siht or drink. I have a beer 5-6 times a year and enjoy the heck out of it.

I had one made several years ago. When I went back to the Dentist to pick it up, he gave me the ceramic model of my teeth that was used to form the guard. Considered it a bonus and tossed it in my lock box. Should be easy to identify me without dental records should that ever need to happen. :D
