How do you clean cloth interiors?
I’m about to buy a used car from a private owner so I’m looking for a way to clean seats well. I’ve seen vids about pressure washing upholstery but I don’t want to do that. I’ve also used cleaners that left seats with a residue so they felt “crispy”. How do you guys clean cloth upholstery?

I use my Hoover "steam" carpet cleaner. My son bought a bissel spot cleaner that does a decent job. I just have to remind him to do a rinse after using the cleaning solution. You get the "crispy" feeling because the soap is still there and it dries crispy. Doing the rinse and extract, you remove most of the remaining soap from the fabric.
I considered buying one of these https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/portable+steam+cleaner.do?code=PPCPLG&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvO2IBhCzARIsALw3ASqc8W2aQmyOTGCW7-e7hVJmqau17v22nqI3hLwybiu--yaW51i3e3IaAmTUEALw_wcB I think you can get something similar to it from Harbor Freight BTW, this is the one my son uses when he's cleaning interiors. https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1686050/bissell-spotclean-pro-portable-deep-cleaner.jsp?skuid=95025711&CID=shopping15&utm_campaign=FLOOR%20CARE&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=google&utm_product=95025711&utm_campaignid=9733267171&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvO2IBhCzARIsALw3ASrtYn4wPV0EJ7UtdjbQ 5PGrImAvXFrp0nc1kl_mYEpo5lhpmFXGEQ8aAghwEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds My only issue with it is that you don't have a split container for cleaner and water like I do on my upright. So when I want to rinse, I have to empty the reservoir and fill with hot water to rinse.

The machine in Nick's link is just a larger version of the one in my link. They work the same, use the same solutions, etc.

Look up some videos from AmmoNYC on YouTube. He gives great tips on cleaning interiors. You’d be amazed what some good all purpose auto upholstery cleaner and a brush will do!

![]() In hind sight I should have spent a few extra dollars and got something a little better than the Bissell. It's a PITA to fill and empty those little tanks. |

I would take it to a pro, they can ozone it and use pet stain remover.

Looking to buy a used Prius in preparation for retirement. Going to be turning in my company car so I don’t want to be left with just my gas guzzlers. Supreme unleaded here is $4.95/gallon!!

I think that's one of the guys my son watches to learn detailing. One thing too, the drill brush he uses in that video is a handy tool.
