Gas tax also hits the heavier vehicles harder. I'm sure that truckers would like to pay the same per mile tax as a Geo metro.
We are talking about electrics. ICE can continue with a gas tax. EV will need some similar method.

I would not approve of a gas tax and then an additional mileage tax on top of it. One or the other, not both.

One thing I'm wondering is what will be the ramifications of large utilities combined with government control and tax structure when the utilities supply & control residential, industrial, & transportation energy. Not that the petroleum industry & government combined don't wield lots of power now. Seems liked all the centers of control continue to be more concentrated as time goes on.

What about the billion dollar Rv industry? What about the billion dollar horse industry? Then there is aerospace? No electric motors can push this stuff. But no one talking about it.

Don't forget trains and ships...it's hopeless. EV's will never work....

Modern "Diesel" train engines are hybrids that use electric motors on the drive wheels and the Diesel as a generator.
This arrangement allows the Diesel to operate in a narrow carefully tuned RPM range for increased effeciency.
As opposed to car engines that because of their wide band tuning are less effecient.

It was on a class trip..60 years ago that we were taken on a train ride and got to talk to the engineer afterwards.
I still remember the first question..."How big of a motor does it have?"
He went on to explain that the diesel engine was used only to charge the batteries...which drove the electric motors on the wheels.
We were all disappointed.

This is true about trains. However, They still use diesel. And the environmentalist want all oil derived fuels gone. At any given time in America, there are 5000 jets in the air. None are electric. What about the ocean liner industry, those gigantic hotels on the water are not electric.

You know a lot of the trucking and rail traffic is used to transport crude oil from the fields to the refineries. I wish there was an alternative that was a little safer and more ecologically sound. Like pipes under the ground or something.

Pipes in the ground are an older technolegy than diesel trucks.
Must go with the future.
Same for plastic portajons.
They are newer than indoor porcelain water closets.
Must change to the newer flush free methods!

What do we want!
V12 Diesel Trucks and Portajons!

Electric cars and water closets are so 19th century.
